*Adam's POV*
I was sore, bruised, and bloody. But I won. And that was the only thing I was concerned about when I was pounding my fists into the the insistent brat and his naive little friends.
I was known for this. Street fighting. It was how I lived my life. Hell, it was how I made most, if not all, of my money. Some low-life challenges me to a fight, I accept the fight, my buddy Ian gathers around bystanders, gambles on my win, and we split the money-half and half.
I wiped my hand across my face, smearing it with blood.
"You didn't have to go so hard on them," Ian scolds. "They were just kids."
"The little sh*t pulled a blade," I replied curtly and he nodded in understanding.
Being a fighter, I like to do it fair. Meaning I I don't pull out a blade when things get tough. I may fight for a living, but I still have morals that I like to keep. For instance: I have never been the one to instigate a fight. I am challenged, I do not challenge. And from my reputation that I have from years of fighting, I get challenged a lot.
I don't do weapons. I use only what I was born with during a fight. And unlike Paul Rodgers, I wasn't given the privilege of being born with a 6-gun.
If my opponent surrenders, the fight is over. I am not going to be responsible for an avoidable injury. These are all rules an honest fighter should know. Yet, it seems like I was one of the only ones who fought this way anymore. So when some snot-nosed brat realizes that he can't beat me, and he pulls out a switchblade, I don't cut him any slack.
"You're going to be hearing from Casey soon," Ian says, pulling a wad of cash out of his pocket and handing me half. "That was his little brother."
"All I need," I say sticking the money in my pocket as I started walking down the empty alley. "Is a time and place," I finished not bothering look back.
"Later, Adam!" he called from behind me.

Don't kill me! I know, the shortest chapter in the history of the world. The rest wil be longer though, I promise. I just wanted to give a small introduction to Adam before he meets Jamie.
