The Haunted Basement

On a nice summers day three children were being left at home for the summer while their mom and dad were going on a long holiday. A ten year old boy, James, a thirteen year old girl, Emily, and Brian who is seventeen. Their, mom told them to go into their neighbours Mr and Mrs Doldy if they need anything. As soon as their mom and dad left, Emily went upstairs to call her friends. James went to play games on the computer. Brian went up to Emily. She was on the phone to her friend Alex. Brian went into his room he saw a note on his bed. It said “I see you” Brian thought it would have been James or Emily. Brian went downstairs. He heard a loud knock but there was no one at the door. The knock got louder but there was no one there. They all got a bit freaked out. It finally stopped at half ten. James and Emily decided to go to bed. But Brian sat downstairs watching TV. He was watching a horror movie. All of a sudden the power went out, Brian got a torch. He heard footsteps around the room. It was fast and getting louder. Brian was moving around shining the torch when he heard a rough whisper. He didn’t understand what it was saying. The power came back on there was nothing there but he saw a drop of red fluid on the floor behind the sofa. The next morning James saw dusty footprints that weren’t his, Brian’s or Emily’s. He nearly fell backwards when the phone rang. James answered and he put it on speaker they heard breathing then someone spoke. “I see you. I see you. Be careful I’m coming.” Beep, beep, beep... Emily got scared. Brian thought it was one of his friends have a joke. James and Emily got scared and they begged Brian to let them stay with Mr and Mrs Doldy. James and Emily secretly put a camera in the living room. That night, James and Emily were looking on their laptop at what the camera was showing. They heard a bang then the camera went fuzzy. “We better call Brian he’s in there by himself” Emily quickly said. Suddenly they heard a bang on the wall. “Did you hear that it was Brian saying “help”” James said while panicking. James and Emily ran outside Brian was climbing out the window onto a tree. Brian felt invisible hands choking him. James and Emily saw him floating outside his bedroom window. James and Emily tried to help something was pulling him back in. He broke free from the grip and he from mid air. He painfully landed in a ditch.

The next morning they sat down thinking. Mrs Doldy came in she was wearing her dark blue dress with a colourful bracelet and said “I’m going out for a while I will be back later. Help yourself to any food you can find.”  “No thanks Mrs Doldy. We better go home anyway.” Brian said with a soft smile. “Okay dear call in anytime you like”

When they got home Emily’s phone rang it was her friend Alex they were talking for over an hour. She must have forgotten about what happened because she invited her Alex to come and stay for the night. When Alex came they all told her about what happened. “Yeah I’m sure you were floating outside your bedroom window.” Alex said with a fake laugh. Suddenly some smoke came from the door under the stairs they didn’t go near it. James started crying. Emily held her tears back while Alex ran outside screaming. After an hour they got Alex to come back inside.

 That night they heard something down stairs they ran down stairs and the key for basement door slid over to Brian’s foot. He opened the door were the stairs to the basement were. Alex cut her finger off something made a sharp scream. As they got down they heard a cry of a girl. When they got down they saw a girl crying in a corner she had a raggy dress, pale skin, blood stains and scratches. She ran over and all they saw was smoke.

 James woke up the next morning he thought it was a dream but Alex still had the cut on her finger and all of them said “It was true” and the door under the stairs was still open. said “But who are those people in our house?” Emily asked. “Maybe they are ghosts” Alex laughed. Then Brian ran to the basement and screamed “What the hell do you want?” nothing happened. “Maybe there from hell” James laughed. Brian went over to him and said “This is no joke”  “OK OK I was just trying to help” James said. A few hours later Alex had to go home.

 That night when James went to bed he heard a whisper at first he didn’t understand what it was saying it got clearer and said. “Under the bed go look. Look quick!” so he looked there was his camera he picked it up and by accident he took a picture. In the picture there was a man on the wall hanging. James screamed Emily came in and said “What are you OK?” James showed her the picture. She screamed and said “Why is there a person in the picture hanging by the neck?” Brian ran in “What happened” He panicked. James showed him the picture.
