They coming in our classes
Trying to paint over the mirrors and glasses
Changing all the literature
Making it what they want; their architecture
They trying to suppress us
Holding our votes and words against us
They don’t want to help us
Going on television blaming us; causing a fuss
Got [people] about to cuss
We don’t need their words
They need to stop trying to suppress us
We [people] can stand on our own
But we need them to protect us; not leave us alone
They don’t want to help:
Black
Latin
Asian
Jew
We are all different, giving something new
In this world, in this continent, called America
They try to suppress us
Turning us against one another
Fighting our own brother
Not the real enemy: the suppresser
It was us who held them up
Giving them what they wanted
They just took it and turned their nose up
Leaving us wanting
Jobs
Life
Better Healthcare
All the like
They are the joke
They play us like a musical note
The suppressors
No one will sequester
Them: hold accountable
For their lies
Deceit
Propaganda
Bigotry
They protect their interest: the rich
Ship our jobs overseas: ain’t that a bitch
They bring hate to the table
They tell the world we are unable
To:
Work
Take care of ourselves
Learn
Educate
And validate
But they take away our freedom
Voter suppression
Media demolition
They need to stop suppressing us
Like Michael Jackson said,
“They don’t care about us”
I sit here; I regress
My mind has too much to say
The visuals, too much to play
So all I have to say,
No vitriolic intentions
Just words from an American citizen
“Stop trying to suppress us.”
