Chapter 8 - Tangled, Hungry and Questioned
They were attacking my hair with shampoos, conditioner, soap, detangling spray and combs. They had pulled out some of my golden brown hair - which is looking rather red - and it was taking a long time, the clock on the wall was a giveaway.
Well it took 7 minutes to get changed and in the warm watered pool, then we sat for a bit while Alexia grabbed some hair products and a new bag of ten combs. Her red high heels clacking around the room was the only thing keeping us three from sleeping.
When Acacia and Cira had everything they wanted.... My head got bashed.
First they fingered their freshly conditioned hands through my hair, while it was floating on the top of the water. Then when it was in small clumps they squeezed a large amount if the golden, see through shampoos on their hands and massaged my skulls and upper neck.
I had to dunk for them to get it out. I guess it's lucky I have known how to swim since I was small, I can hold my breath longer than them as well.
They have put more conditioner in my hair, massaging it through my hair and rubbing the sticky and dry bits. Then they started combing it out. They still are now, each pull makes some flakes of paint come loose and a couple strands of hair out as well.
The paint is nearly out but my hair is stained light red. But the paint has still got some strands of hair infused so they spray on heavily the de-tangler and rub soap on my scalp to stop it aching.
Well it was a very long half hour. I now need to get all this product out if my hair. So I move to a section of the pool which is not clouded by the soaps and dunk myself again, shaking my head violently underwater and rubbing the tips of my reddish golden brown hair seems to get it out.
Cira and Acacia are drying themselves near where I had my hair done. Cira is glancing at Acacia’s wrist decorations worriedly.
"SOON" She yells at Cira before stalking into her dressing cubicle. What is she talking about? I felt so out of it today.
I grab a towel and dry myself. When I am dry Alexia gives me a back massage while Cira does Acacia.
Alexia offers one to Cira but she denies and it is peacefully quiet again.
We get dressed into our school uniforms again after our 5 minute massage. So we have been down here 45 minutes now. Ms. Modika should be here any second now. By the time we are back we will have been missing an hour and my hair will be clean.
What will people think, we were sworn to secrecy and that means we can't tell our friends.
"Hey Alexia?" Cira asks
"Yes" She was folding towels.
"What do we say if our friends ask where we were and why Evelyn's hair is clean, kind of?"
"That you spent the time in the staff room sink with the soap."
"Ok then." Cira responded, Ms. Modika's head came through the small doorway.
"Finally done hey?"
"It was hard work yeah?" Acacia retorted. Ok ever since art she has been acting all moody. At recess she was fine; mooching food off me - as always - I showed her the invite which I am meant to post today. Great. Being a detective spoilt my mood.
Cira had already gone through the door and Acacia was trying to get my attention, so that I could also go through. One look at the clock said it was THE END OF LUNCH BREAK! We missed a whole 50 minute block.
"IM SO HUNGRY" I complained as I walked through the door. I saw a plate of biscuits on the staff room table, I grabbed one and started nibbling while I walked upstairs to grab my pasta.
Me, Acacia and Cira sat under our normal tree. I think the three if us are going to be a lot closer after today.
It was 2:00 when we FINALLY got back to class and they were finishing of their reading and grabbing things for the computer room session. I saw my copy of Cathy Cassidy's Cherry Crush on my table. I was re-reading the two books again (Marshmallow Skye) because Summer Dream was coming out soon!
Everyone bombarded us with questions and the teacher could only handle so much noise.
