Falling for Star

Chapter 1:

                Rain was pounding on Star’s bedroom window; she jumped when her whole bedroom was lit up by a flash of lightning. Oh, how she hated storms! Thunder came soon followed by another flash of lighting. She almost fell off of her bed when she heard a loud crash downstairs. She hesitated a moment before finally standing, she wrapped herself in her robe and grabbed a kunai off of her dresser on her way out of her bedroom.

                Star went into the living room, nothing. Another crash and it came from the kitchen. She gripped the kunai tighter and leaned on the wall so she wouldn’t fall down. Then she soundlessly made her way into the kitchen. She almost tripped when her cat, Paws, ran through her feet. What startled the cat? She wondered, she shivered as a gust of cold air blew in through her now broken kitchen window.

                “Aw, man! Thanks a lot you stupid storm!” she mumbled to herself. She switched the light on and began picking up the tiny shards of glass. Right before she was done her light cut back off. Assuming it was a power outage she continued to clean up the mess.

                Star stood to throw away the debris when she saw her electronic clock that was plugged into the wall. She quickly dropped the glass into the trash can and ran over to the light switch on the wall. It was switched to ‘off’, and that meant that something or someone cut her light off by hand. It wasn’t a power outage…

                Before she could do anything, a kunai was pressed against her throat. She struggled to get free but knew it was useless.

                “Scream and you die,” an evil sounding voice said. Yeah, like I would do that… she thought. She was still holding her kunai so she went at the stranger but he easily dodged and punched her in the back. Everything went black…

                Star slowly opened her eyes, she felt soft wet grass underneath her and heard voices in the distance. She lay motionless just in case the owners of those voices dared to come nearer, she listened for the voices which were coming nearer.

                “Who is this girl?!” an angry sounding voice screamed. Star squeezed her eyes shut and pretended to be asleep.

                “I don’t really know,” the guy who knocked Star out said nervously.

                “What do you mean ‘you don’t know’? Then why did you bring her here?! She could be our enemy for all we know!”

                “She tried to attack me-”

                “See?! She is our enemy!”

                “You didn’t let me finish,” he said patiently. “When she tried to attack me I noticed how strong and fearless she was, I figured that we could try and make her a member to our group.”

                “What’s going on here?” a female voice broke through the conversation. Star sighed in relief. Maybe they’ll actually treat me with respect since there’s a woman here, she thought. “Who is that?”

                “Tobi doesn’t know he just picked her up out of nowhere! He says she tried to attack him so he brought her here,” the first person said.
