Chapter Nineteen

James’ POV

“Did you just take the last of my fries?” I asked Sophia who was giggling uncontrollably trying to stuff the last few fries in her mouth.  It was Tuesday and we always had a study block before lunch.   We decided in the future to always make it a McDonald’s lunch date and eat down at the beach.

“You weren’t eating them,” she giggled out trying to keep the last of the fries away from me.

I was quicker than her though and I grabbed her wrist and brought her hand to my mouth.   “Oh no you don’t,” I laughed as I put a fry in my mouth.   I had her pinned down on the blanket now, she was trapped and laughing and squirming so hard that I could barely hold her down.

“Give me one James,” she squealed.   “You ate them all.”

“You said you didn’t want any......remember?” I teased her still holding her down.  I still had a couple of fries left in my hand and I took one and traced her lips with it.   “Mmmmm....” I bent over her now and licked the salt off of her lips.   “My baby tastes good.”   I popped that fry in my mouth and I had one more left that I was going to give to Sophia.   “Open up,” I told her and as she did, I put the tip of the fry onto her tongue and before she could close her mouth onto it, I pulled it back.

“James,” she squealed again.  “Stop teasing me.”

“Alright,” I said bringing my lips down to hers and giving her a quick kiss.  I put the fry in her mouth and watched her as she chewed it.   I still cannot believe how far she’s come.  She still won’t eat with any utensils, but she doesn’t mind now if I feed her. Actually, she’s quite happy when I feed her and we share food often.  She still won’t go into a restaurant and eat, but that’s nothing major and I don’t really care.

Things have been going great between us.   I see her every day, in school, after school, on the weekends, we are always hanging out.   I still haven’t taken her home yet but I did tell my parents that I was seeing someone but I wouldn’t tell them who.  I want to surprise them when I asked her to come for dinner one night.  I haven’t brought her home yet because I don’t quite think that she’s ready yet.   I mentioned it a couple of times and she sort of got all nervous and stuff.  I’ll leave it for a while longer but I know that I won’t be able to hold off much more because my Mom is driving me crazy.

The whole thing with Carly ended up working out for the better.  Apparently after the incident, Carly ended up transferring schools.  Her friends ditched her and when everyone at the party found out what she did, it spread like wildfire throughout the school.   No one wanted to associate themselves anymore with a person who preyed upon a blind girl.   I was totally relieved when I found out that I wouldn’t have to see her anymore.  I honestly didn’t think that I could control my temper around her.

The beach is deserted today.   It is cloudy and the temperature isn’t that warm, so it didn’t surprise me that not many people were around.  I did see a few earlier on when we first got here walking along the shoreline but I haven’t seen anyone since.  Suits me fine, now I have Sophia all to myself.

We are lying on the blanket facing each other and she has her eyes closed.   “What are you thinking?” I asked her tracing her lips with the tip of my finger.
