"Some things are just plain bad."
The sun woke me up. I looked at the clock and it was seven in the morning. I can hear the birds tweeting and children playing outside, they are probably excited about their summer. And for me it's officially the start of vacation.
I wanted to get back to sleep when suddenly my mom called out from down stairs. "DANNY BREAKFAST IS ALMOST READY!".
I got up from my cozy bed with hesitation and headed downstairs. I entered the kitchen and mom asked me to prepare the dining table.
Bacon and eggs were for breakfast which were never really my favorite thing to eat.
While grabbing some plates I noticed my mom, she looked worried, she seems pale. I asked her if she was okay. She responded that she's fine and that she's just a bit tired. I then continued to prepare the table.
I went back to the kitchen to pickup the remaining eating utensils when she asked me "Have you packed your bags?" I was confused, why would I pack my bags. "We're leaving for grandpa's this afternoon, remember?". I almost forgot that we were leaving for my grandparents house.
My auntie died and their having her funeral there. That's probably why she's tired, she cried all night! Auntie Mayver, I never grew close to auntie Mayver compared to my other aunts because she lived at the other side of the country, together with her family. She went to Silver Springs for a vacation but died because of Diabetes.
Me and mom started to eat. I asked her where dad was. She said he left early to get some money from the bank.
We continued to eat our breakfast, we were silent the rest of the time, she's usually not like this because we always talked quite loudly during breakfast, lunch and dinner specially when dad gets home early enough, they both won't stop talking about things, but since her sister died I understand why she's this quiet.
We finished breakfast and I headed to the living room. I lied down the sofa and watched TV. It's 8 in the morning so there's not much to watch that's interesting enough.
After searching channel after channel I come across the news channel. They were reporting about a large explosion in Jonathan's row park just outside of the city. Jonathan's park was a favorite picnic venue for my family, we come there together with uncle Sam and cousin Jill and Jet every few months. It was just sad to see it partially destroyed.
I heard a car park at our driveway. I saw the red roof of the car. I was sure it's dad. I heard the the car door open and BANG! the door closed moments later I hear the keys clunking and i prepared myself for what my dad is about to say, moments later "Honey I'm home!" my dad said while entering the house. Hearing this old line which he said everytime he got home after work or when he's gone more than an hour, it made me say to him sarcastically "that's really new, you really should NOT change it." He laughed and said that he would never change it because he liked classic things, well he calls it classic, I and almost every human being in my generation called it old.
I hear his footsteps going up the stairs, its unusual because dad always goes to the kitchen to eat before going up stairs to his office. I asked dad why he didn't go to the kitchen and get some grub, he did answer but his voice came from the kitchen, he said "I am getting breakfast!" If he's in the kitchen who went upstairs. I was too preoccupied with the T.V. to care.
I fell asleep. I looked at the wall clock, it was 1pm. I missed lunch, my stomach rumbled following the realization. i went to the kitchen to see if there was some lunch left. I removed the lid of the tray in the middle of the table, there was still less than a quarter of a plate of corned beef in it and its probably enough for me because I ate a reasonable amount of bacon and eggs this morning.

It's four in the afternoon, the taxi was outside. Everything was already packed and everyone's ready to go. Dad and I loaded the bags to the compartment of the taxi and mom was locking the door and checked if any windows were open. I'm excited to see my cousins, almost every single one of my relatives are there. It's like a reunion, but for a tragic reason.
While on the way to the airport it started raining, then a song named "Asleep" played, it made me a bit sad because of it's tone. I think it's just right because of what happened.
