Chapter 8 – I Don't Like Old Guys

[Chad's POV]

'Got your number from Thomas, to Chester, to Patrick, then passed to me. This is Rose's friend, Alexa. Remember the deal that you need to date when you see each other again? You're in the same wedding. Date now.'

That was a text I received from an unknown number. Luckily, she introduced herself. I looked at Rose and saw her looking at her phone, frowning.

"A text from your best friend?" I asked her.

"Yes," she nodded without looking at me.

"I got one too," I admitted.

"Looks like we're ruining an atmosphere here," Gabriel said.

"You're right," his wife, Aubrey, agreed. "Let's go greet the others," she then looked at Rose. "Nice meeting you," Rose smiled at her and the newlyweds walked away.

"I'm kind of lost here," Julian, who I forgot the presence, interrupted my thoughts. "How did the two of you know each other anyway? And why are you fucking enemies with each other?"

"He was a model in my company once," Rose explained. "Ex-company if I should say,"

"But that didn't answer my second question," Julian said. "Why do you consider each other as an enemy?"

"We just sort of didn't click as friends," I tried to explain in the easiest way possible because there was no real reason why Rose and I were enemies. As I was looking at Rose, I knew that she was thinking the same thing.

There was no apparent reason for our fighting.

She just didn't like older guys whilst I didn't like younger girls.

We hated each other because we were quite the opposite.

"That simple reason?" Julian looked at the both of us like we were kids being scolded by their parents. "Are you trying to make me laugh?"

"I know that you find this amusing," Rose told him innocently.

"And what about the two of you?" I asked them. "Why did you come here together?"

"Rose is my date," Julian placed an arm around Rose's shoulder. Rose didn't look like she was older than Julian. Julian's physical maturity evenly matched Rose's appearance. They looked like a normal couple. "Why do you not have one? I'm pretty sure that you always brag about getting all those old ladies lining up for you,"

"Didn't need to invite one," I shrugged. I was never one to bring a woman in such occasion for I never had been serious about one since the time I fell in love with those two younger girls.

[Rose's POV]

I didn't know what to do. I agreed to my bestfriend's proposal to date Chad when I see him again...and I did. But I was now in really good terms with Julian. How could I possibly date Chad at the same time?!

The world was such a scary place for throwing a prank such as this one.

It was a good thing that Chad separated from us. I didn't want the awkwardness between us to consume the aura of the wedding. "What do you want to do now?" Julian asked me. "I know you don't like being here since you're not a fan of wedding and all,"

"I've got nothing in mind," I smiled at him, trying to push my thoughts about Chad aside. "How about you? What do you wanna do?"

"You," he blurted out and I couldn't help myself but laugh. I knew that his school called Harkins Academy was for sex addicts but watching Julian blurted that word out made it sound like it was all a joke.

"You're cute," I giggled. "Maybe some other time," I winked at him. I didn't want things between Julian and me to go that fast because I didn't want it to end that fast either. I was doing the simplest rule in the book, 'take things slowly'.

"You have such beautiful laugh," he told me as we stepped on the dance floor of the reception. "I wouldn't mind hearing it everyday,"

"Everyday?" I narrowed my eyes at him, confused. "What are you talking about, Julian?"

"Nothing," he smiled at me as he led our dance. I didn't know the song. It was a slow song, a love song, and I didn't have any idea what the song was.

But dancing with someone you liked?

That was a different story because for once since it could even make a foreign song enjoyable for someone like me.

"Why did you leave Chad all alone?!" Alexa screamed at me. "We had a deal! You two shou—" I shut my bestfriend up before she could even yell at me some more.

"Julian was there, Alex," I told her calmly as I was wiping the make-up off of my face. She came to my apartment just to get some gossip but didn't get what she wanted when I told her that I didn't spend that night 'dating' Chad. "I think I really like him,"

"He's just a boy!" she screamed once again. "You nee—"

"I don't need a man,"

"You do! All of us do! A boy wouldn't be able to sweep you off of your feet! A boy wouldn't be able to marry you until he's eighteen! A boy wouldn't be able to sustain your living expenses!"

"My salary is enough," I told her. I was used to Alexa being like this. We'd been together since we were kids. What did you expect? She was like an older sister or mother to me. In other words, she was a loud person.

"And what did Chad do?"

"Who knows what he did?" I shrugged. "I couldn't even care less about that guy,"

"And you care about Julian even though Chad's hotter than him," she whispered.

"I heard that!"

"It was meant for you to hear."

[Chad's POV}

"Damn it," I kicked the nearest garbage can. I was walking my way home since Aubrey and Gabriel picked a reception near my place.

I hated this day.

I hated the fact that I saw her again. And when I said her, I meant Rozabelle. She'd got one unique name that really suited her.

You know what I hated the most?

It was the fact that I felt jealous when she was with Julian.

She was younger than me! Why the hell was I feeling like this about her? I only did go for older women...yet not one of them I got serious on. I intended not to make Rozabelle an exception. She was a pain in the ass. Yeah, that was right. She was just a pain. She would bring nothing but pain to me if we dated.

But why did we keep seeing each other in different places?

That didn't even make sense!

Destiny? That was what her bestfriend said but I didn't believe it. I couldn't just believe it. There was no such thing as destiny. There was no fucking way that I would believe that crap.

But why was I so frustrated if it wasn't true?

Damn that destiny! That didn't apply about me and Rozabelle meeting.

But if that 'destiny' thing was true...I was doomed.
