Now that season 4 of The Vampire Diaries has concluded, I am seriously freaking out waiting for season 4, so I decided to write this fan fiction of Elena's new life as a vampire. I really hope you like it, and I really want to get a lot of reads on it because I think I'm the only one so far doing this part of the story.

I just wanted to say that all of the credit goes to L.J. Smith, if it wasn't for her, I would've never known The Vampire Diaries was such a perfect show. I do not intend to 'steal' her writing, but some things will be from the books or the show, so yeah, thanks for reading.

I didn't make the cover, HarrietLancaster did, so ask her if you want one. :)

ENJOY !

"I love you," Stefan whispered, and I felt a tear of his splash against my skin. I wish I could tell him how much I loved him, I wish I could reach my hand out and grasp his in mine, and squeeze it tightly, and to tell him I was okay.

But I wasn't. I was far from it, I was still, unmoving, my body lying on a cold hard flat surface. I was unaware of where I was. I heard Stefan walk out of the room. I wanted to cry out, to get him to come back, to be by my side, but my body wouldn't respond.

All I could remember was seeing Rebekah standing in the middle of the road with that smug look on her face, and then I was screaming at Matt to swerve around her. Then we were under the water, locked in. Matt frantically tried to open the doors, to smash the window beside him.

I remembered seeing my dad, looking behind to see me, his face worn with fear. I mouthed the words 'I love you' to him, and then my eyes closed, slowly, my body becoming unresponsive.

Then I was back with Matt, and I was smashing my elbow against the window, but it wouldn't budge. When I looked over at Matt, Stefan had ripped the door off, and was grabbing my arm, but I kept pointing to Matt. He shook his head, still trying to pull me, but I glared at him and pointed to Matt again. He frowned, but took Matt out of the truck and swum to the surface.

That was when I realized...my body was starting to numb, I couldn't breathe any more, my lungs were shutting down...I shut my eyes, and felt myself being set free...

That was how I had died. I had chosen to save Matt, in return, sacrificing my life...and everyone was going to suffer because of me.

I heard Damon's voice down the corridor. "Where is she?" he hissed.

"Look-Damon," Meredith Fell's voice said,

"Where is she!" Damon asked again.

"Look, wait!" Doctor Fell called. "You need to know, when Jeremy brought her in earlier tonight, her injuries were worse than I let on. It wasn't a concussion it was a cerebral hemorrhage-bleeding on the brain," she said huffing.

"What are you saying?" Damon asked, his voice thick with worry and concern.

"He was so worried, I didn't want to tell him, but I...I helped her. She needed my HELP," Doctor Fell said, in a frantic and sad tone.

Damon waited a few moments for it to sink in. "You WHAT?" he hissed.

I waited to see if they were going to continue talking, when I felt my blood boil, the quick searing through my body. I could move my fingers. My heart was beating.

My chest heaved, my eyes fluttered open, and I started to sit up, gasping for air.

I was alive.
