I stared out the window of the car as my mom pulled into the driveway of my new home.
You must be wondering why I moved here. But before I get into that story you have to know a little bit about me.
My name is Mallory Paige DeVelvis. I am 15 years old. I have VERY dark brown hair with red highlights. It is styled the way most people would call Scene. I have a baby red tailed boa as a pet and It's name is Pvethearfall.
My parents had issues with their marriage. They had only gotten married was becuase my dad had gotten my mom pregnant when she was 16. They started to fall apart when I was 14. Every small argument turned into World war 3. Two weeks after I turned fifteen my parents filed for divorce, my mom getting me and my dad getting the house and half of our belongings. I go to my dad's house for one week every two months.
So here I am in a new house, new city, halfway across the country from everything I have ever known in California.
The new house was not huge but it was big enoough for two people. I got out of the car and picked up Pvethearfalls cage. Many people were in their yards staring at me and my mom. I rolled my eyes proceeding to walk into the house quickly. I hated attention. My mom had shown me pictures of the house and which room was mine. The movers were nice enough to set up our furniture so all we had to do was put all of our clothes and personal items where we wanted. All the boxes had been moved.
I pulled Pvetherfall out of his cage as the doorbell rang. I heard voices downstairs. "MALLORY COME DOWNSTAIRS." my mom yelled upstairs. "I'M BUSY!" i yelled back. "MALLORY PAIGE DEVELVIS!" she yelled. When she used my full name she meant buisness
I walked downstairs the snake across my shoulders to see my mother with a middle aged man and woman with one of the cutest boys I have ever seen. He looked to be my age with brown scene hair and a buffalo hat on he had brown eyes and had X's drawn on his hands.
"Mallory these are our neighbors, the Hennings and their son Drake." my mom said gesturing towards them. "Hey." I said waving. Pvethearfall took the chance to tell me she was hungry by trying to strike at me.
Mrs. Henning flinched. I took pvethearfall off my shoulders and into my arms. "Mallory go feed her, and take Drake with you." my mom said. "Kay, cmon." I said walking upstairs. Drake followed close behind me.
He sat down on the edge of the bed as I put pvetherfall in her feeding cage. "You may not want to look if you have a weak stomach." I said "I think I'm good." He said smiling
"So, how old are you?" I asked him. "Sixteen, What about you?" "Fifteen gonna be sixteen in a few months."
"I like your hat. I have a spirit hood in one of these boxes somewhere." I said. "Thanks, which one do you have?" he asked. "Panda."
I saw Pvethearfall swallow the mouse so I picked her up from her eating aquarium. "You wanna hold her?" I asked him
"Sure." he said with a smile. I carefully handed him the snake making sure he had it before I let go.
"It feels funny!" he said chuckling. My phone started to vibrate. It was my dad. "One sec, I have to take this." I walked into the hallway and closed the door behind me.
"Hi daddy." I said. "Hey babygirl, can you ask your mom if November 20th is the day you are coming?" He asked. "No. you need to talk to her. I hate this, being stuck in the middle. You two are the adults so talk it out." I said crying. I hung up on him.
I walked back into my room and saw Drake putting Pvetherfall away. "Thanks." I whispered.
"Were you crying?" he asked me. I nodded and sat down on the bed. "What's wrong?" he asked me.
My parents divorce is recent and I'm always in the middle. I've gotten everything taken away from me even my friends.
"How about this, I'll be your friend forever. Be ready at seven thirty tommorow."
"What's at seven thirty?"
"School. I'm driving you."
