Chapter 38 : Goodbyes

I climbed the stairs with tears threatening to fall. The mister at the first floor said that Andrew lives at the 4th floor, 3rd door to the left.

When I found it, my heart started racing. What if he already left?

I was about to knock when the door opened.

I held my breathe.

"Who are you?" a girl with a childish voice asked.

"Excuse me. Is this where Andrew lives?" I politely asked even though I have a feeling she's younger than me.

"My brother?" she asked sounding surprised.

I think I know her. "Are you Sarah?"

"How did you know?"

"Who's there?" I heard Andrew asked.

"Drew, someones looking for you" Sarah said.

"Who is it?" Andrew asked.

"It's me" I loudly said.

After I said that, I heard some boxes fall and running footsteps from inside the house.

"What are you doing here?" Andrew asked. He's not angry, but he sound totally surprised. "How did you know I live here?"

"So that's why you won't stay home. You have a girlfriend here" Sarah teased.

"Get out!" Andrew ordered.

"But I just-" I started to say.

"Sarah, get out!" Andrew said.

"Why me?" Sarah complained.

"Get more boxes to Jack downstairs. We need more"

"Mom will totally punish you for this!" Sarah complained but still followed Andrew.

"Come in" Andrew simply said then went inside.

When I stepped inside their apartment, the first thing I noticed was it was too cold. I can feel the wind blowing from their window.

When I first stepped inside the building, the scent caught my attention. It's not a building for living. It's too cold and smells like...a warehouse. The walls are even too cold; I can guess the floor's also cold.

"Sorry, we only have a curtain to cover the holes, so it's really cold here" Andrew quietly said.

"Then, what so you do with the holes when winter comes?" I asked.

"Why are you here?"

"Why are you leaving?"

"I dreamed to be a farmer" he brightly said.

"Your dream is to be an architect"

"Well I already changed my dreams" he said like it doesn't matter.

"You can't easily just change dreams whenever you want to"

He didn't answer.

"Please don't leave" I begged with tears on my eyes.

"What will happen if I don't leave?"

"What?"

"Will you break up with him and be with me?"

"Why are you saying this?"

"I know you really love him, so I'm already letting you go to make it less complicated"

"Just stay please" I said while crying.

"And then what?"

"And then...we can go back how we used to be. I promise to treat you better. I'll go to school earlier so we can speak before my class starts. Just please don't leave. You're my only friend" I begged.
