This morning was different than the others. Mainly because I had a 20 pound living breathing dog bouncing on my chest so I could go get his breakfast. We both ran down the stairs & into the kitchen, mom had breakfast ready & was already sitting at the table, waiting for me. I sat in the seat, in front of hers, and she had a coffee in her hand, and she was thinking. She zoned out on the picture that's hanging on the wall. There was a plate in front of me, filled with waffles, bacon & a glass of chocolate milk. My personal favorite breakfast meal. I picked up my fork and started cutting up the waffles, I guess the sudden noise woke mom from her thoughts. Because she had a shock run through her, almost making her drop her coffee. Thanks for not noticing me mom. It doesn’t bother me, she didn’t do it on purpose. She put her coffee on the table gripping it with her hands and she looked at me. ‘‘Sam I have an interview with my boss this afternoon. So I might be gone for a few hours.’’ She seemed sorry. It’s fine mom. I can take care of myself. ‘‘That’s ok. I’ll probably take waffles for a walk to the beach, or something.’’ I smiled letting her know that I’ll be ok. ‘‘That’s a wonderful idea Samantha. Maybe you should invite that cute boy from across the street to go with you.’’ MOM! ‘‘Who? Alex? I barely know him!’’ I yelled feeling embarrassed as I remembered his gorgeous blue eyes, his perfect smile and amazing laugh. ‘‘So? You both need someone to hang out with. And you’re both always in the house.’’ She said taking a sip from her coffee. How can she be serious about this? I had just met him, that would be so awkward. ‘‘Ok fine. I will ask him. But only if I’m going out later!’’ I reminded her. Prepare for an extremely awkward day Sam. ‘‘What ever you say Sam, what ever you say.’’ She smiled and we laughed. I’m really going to miss seeing her.

Mom left the kitchen to go unpack a few things. Now it was just me and Waffles. Do you know how difficult it is to eat with a puppy starring at you? I looked at my plate, then back to him, my plate… Waffles, I continued doing this for not even a minute, every time I looked at my plate he got closer to my leg. He starred at me with his dark brown eyes and started whimpering. I knew better then to look in his eyes! I double checked the doorway of the kitchen to make sure mom wasn’t around then dropped half of my waffle on the floor. I laughed. Waffles is eating a waffle.

Its 2:35pm, do you think I should go for that walk now?
It took me a while to find Waffles’ leash. When I found it, it was in my closet all chewed up. Good thing we have two of them. ‘Waffles?’ I called for him. Not a lot of time passed and I heard little scratch marks from his nails clicking against the floor. I smiled as he started jumping up and down with excitement. ‘Wanna go for a walk boy?’ I asked clipping the leash to his collar. I barely got the door opened all the way because he had ran through my legs and pulled the leash. ‘Mom, I’m leaving with the dog.’ I said before shutting the door. ‘Sam!’ I heard her call, I opened the door again. Ugh, what? ‘Where are you going?’ She asked. Why is she so annoying? Don’t get me wrong I love her to death but honestly? ‘Well I was thinking about just walked around the neighborhood.’ I said pulling on Waffles’ leash to make him stop pulling away. ‘Ok, be safe. Do you have a key?’ I always carry a key when I leave the house! ‘Yes mom, I always have a key with me.’ I said slightly getting annoyed. ‘‘Are you going to beach after?’’ Does it matter? ‘‘I might after. Why?’’ She’s getting more protective since we moved here. ‘‘Ok, please invite that boy with you. If you do go, it’s such a beautiful day.’’ She smiled. ‘‘But mom, I…’ Don’t even know him well? ‘No buts! You’re going to invite him. It will give you a chance to make a new friend.’’ She’s never yelled at me for not wanting to talk to strangers. This is getting weird. ‘‘Mom!’’ I yell to her. I’m shy around strangers. ‘Sam… Go for your walk and invite him with you… Or else I will ground you.’’ She didn’t say anything else. Ground me for not wanting to hang out with a stranger? Wow, this is really weird. ‘‘FINE!’’ And with that I slammed the door shut. I walked away angrily. Well… That was interesting.
