Calie's Diary: Falling in Love (No Seriously?)

Friday March 16th

So, when I got home from school today I was surprised to see Derek waiting in the driveway for me considering I just saw him after our Calculus test and he said he was heading to practice.

So Alex said hey to Derek then went inside and I said to Derek, “So you are ditching practice or something?”

“No it was cancelled” Derek replied smiling at me.

“Why?”

“So I can hang out with you” he said moving so close to me that we were way beyond the normal boundaries of people.

“No really why?” I asked.

“I don’t know because we are awesome and we don’t need to practice, but anyway get in the car we are going somewhere” Derek said and I kind of thought he was kidnapping me. (Thought maybe he should kidnap me then we can live somewhere by ourselves just me and him, I wouldn’t even care if my parents thought I was missing as long as I was with Derek I’d be happy)

“Can I put my school stuff away” I asked him taking in his hazel eyes that looked gorgeous today. (Really everyday)  

So, after quickly throwing my backpack into my room and a quick check in the mirror to see how I was looking, I go back to the driveway.  Derek was leaning against his car in that cool I don’t give a crap about anything way you see guys do it in the movies and TV. I just wanted to jump him there in the driveway. (Ok wow I should not be thinking like that)

Anyway, I got in the car and smiled at Derek then Derek totally ruined the moment by giving me an update on all his stats for the baseball season so far, like I really cared about his batting average or everyone else’s on the team for that matter. (Ok truth I love the sound of Derek’s voice, almost as much as he does, so yeah I don’t mind listening to him talk, I could listen to him for rest of my life….)

So after about 30 minutes of driving I was kind of wondering where we were actually going.

“Derek, where are we going?”

“Just driving around, it’s something I like to do, you’re not busy today are you?  You should have said something” Derek said, only Derek is rich enough that he can waste gas and drive around for fun.

“Oh no, but doesn’t it kind of a waste of gas” I replied.

“Oh yeah I guess, I’ll get an electric car for my next car, then it will even out” Derek said. (Derek logic at its best)

“Ok so did you want to talk about something since you took me on this random drive to nowhere” I asked a bit confused at this point.

“We are talking” I said.

“Well yeah but I meant about anything specific” I asked prodding a bit.

“No just wanted to hang out with you today, since tomorrow we got the baseball game then me and Jeff are going stay with his brother at U of Oregon”

“What?”

“Yeah it’s a big party weekend, and we will be almost half way there anyway for the game, so Jeff asked his brother if we could crash there” (So apparently everyone is really going to University of Oregon to party this weekend, well every guy in the senior class)

“Oh yeah sounds like everyone is going, I just know Ruby got mad at Kyle earlier in the week because he said he was going and Ruby got mad because she wasn’t invited, and she thinks he is going to hook up with some girl” I said, hoping Derek would say if he was planning to hook up with a girl. (Not that I would really think he would)

“Your friends are weird”

“Yeah sorry, that’s just Ruby, but I’m sure you will have fun, just be safe”

“I always am”

Then we pulled in a parking lot and I realized where we were, it was the custard place 40 minutes away. It was open for the spring!!!!

“Oh my gosh, I didn’t know it was open yet” I said super excited.

“Oh yeah it opened last weekend but you were sick, I get email updates” Derek said smiling at how happy I was.

So, we got 2 large vanilla cones.

“I thought you said vanilla is boring” I said to Derek.

He shrugged and said, “If it’s good enough for you it’s good enough for me.”

Then I just enjoyed my custard, and let Derek talk about some random topic I don’t remember what it was. LOL J

When we got back in the car, Derek said, “Well we can do some more random driving around or we can go back, I think if we drive west like 15 minutes we will probably hit the beach”
