---Gordon’s POV---

Batman and Robin stood before me in the lobby of Arkham Asylum after locking up the Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, and Catwoman. Batman was brooding and the boy wonder didn’t look too pleased either as the storm raged on outside.

“We’ve had intel that there’s going to be an attempt at a breakout tonight,” I sighed. “We don’t know who’s doing it or who’s getting out, but this facility is too big and running on minimum security due to the weather… no one can come travel through it.”

“No one followed the vans here,” Robin spoke up. “I’m sure of it.”

“I wouldn’t count on it,” I murmured. Lightning flashed above us and a shadow fell on the floor behind the two vigilantes. I squinted at it a second before it disappeared. “I wouldn’t count on it at all.”

“You saw something?” Batman did not turn around, but he must’ve understood.

“A shadow, they must be on the roof,” I mumbled.

“Just walk outside, Robin and I will look into this.”

The three of us walked outside and the door closed as the two caped crime fighters reached their vehicles. Batman opened one of the doors and retrieved something from inside before slamming the door. Thunder shook the grounds and a guard came to look outside.

“What are you doing out here?” I frowned at the man as he approached.

“The monitors picked up movement outside and I came to check it out. I’m sorry commissioner, I didn’t see it was multiple people.”

“What do you mean?” Robin piped in.

“It looked like some girl, so I came to look.”

“Get back inside,” I ordered. “Get back to your booth and check on the screens again.” The guard nodded and did as I said, leaving me outside again. “You know who it is.”

“How though? There was no vehicular movement behind us the whole way here.” Robin checked a screen on his wrist, frowning the whole time.

“She doesn’t need transportation,” Batman spoke gruffly. “We need to see what is going on here.”

“I agree.” Opening the door showed us a silent lobby area newly decorated with a waterfall and shattered glass. I turned to the guard behind the desk, “What did you find?”

“Well, you three just left Crazy’s Lane,” he frowned. “The cameras seem to be on a delay.”

“Let me see,” Robin moved behind the keyboard and started typing.

“We have no choice now,” I turned to my right and stared at him. “If she is the one here, she has crossed the line and she will have to serve her time for it.”
