Rough around the edges, my corners skew,
Life wasn’t what I believed to be true,
Hard times and good times shows under my eyes,
Dark shades that shows my emotions demise.
All that I went through made me who I am,
I held it together, I always had a plan,
You stomped on my footsteps the entire way,
Your shiny outlook was always in the way.
You hid behind a mirror that never shone through,
What it meant to really be you,
I took the punches while you hid away,
You planted on a lipstick smile, pretended to be ok.
What you never realized and what will always be true,
It was easier for me to be me, than for you to be you,
I know who I am and I take what life gives me,
You hide in your smirk, clothes and makeup.
Silently screaming, ‘life forgive me.’
You put me down and tripped me all the way through,
What keeps me going though is that I know what it means,
To be you.
Just open your made up eyes and you will see,
The truth that lies in the word, ‘me’,
All you need to be is yourself, that’s true,
The most special you could be is only you.
