“We’re losing him. Faster!” Roxanne Winston commanded, waving her hands frantically in the air.

The guy in the driver seat turned around and gave her the evil eye. “I can’t understand how I ended up in this situation. How could you girls be so careless? ” He muttered shaking his head disapprovingly. “Especially you, Roxy. How could you be so stupid?”

“How could I’ve known what he was planning to do, Justin?” The redhead shot back, crossing her arms defensively. “I didn’t see you clutching your possessions when you were getting it on with Miss Fake Boobs.”

“I didn’t need to, she was dying to clutch mine.” Justin’s reply made all three girls gag on the spot, serving only to widen his grin.

“Maybe if you’d been paying attention to us instead of sucking faces with her, we wouldn’t have ended up like this.” Roxy retorted, ignoring the smug grin on her opponent’s face.

“Maybe if you hadn’t been too busy with planning to get into that guy’s pants, you would have noticed what he was up to.” was Justin’s immediate reply.

“I didn’t need to plan it, he was already begging me to go somewhere else with him.” The words spilled from Roxy’s mouth as her face turned bright red.

“Well, seems that we could have both gotten lucky tonight then.” Justin sighed. “If only you hadn’t ruined it.”

Roxy’s eyes darkened at the thought of Justin with another girl and she opened her mouth to talk back but something covered her mouth, muffling the sound.

“I definitely didn’t need to hear all that, especially from my brother.” The third person in the car interfered, covering Roxy’s mouth with one hand and smacking Justin’s head lightly with the other. “If you keep bickering like an old couple, we’ll lose the guy and you can say goodbye to the necklace Rox. And you Justin, just focus on the road and keep your perverted thoughts to yourself.” She addressed her brother, annoyance evident in her tone. “If you two don’t behave, I swear I’ll…”

“Fine Willa.” Justin surrendered with a sigh. “Keep your friend quiet and let me drive.”

“I was quiet, you are the…” Roxy’s voice was again cut off by Willa, who had resumed pressing her palm against her friend’s lips.

“Please Rox, keep your mouth shut until we get your necklace. Then you can say do anything you want to my idiot brother.” Willa pleaded glaring at the furious girl and only lowered her hand after Roxy nodded vigorously.

A loaded silence fell between the friends as Justin kept following the dark blue sedan in front of them from a safe distance. Roxy first glanced at Willa and saw that she seemed glad to have the banter in the car over. Her eyes then slowly traveled to Justin and she soon found herself fascinated by the concentrated expression on his sullen face. She watched under her lashes how his eyes flicked when something out of ordinary appeared at the road, how he muttered to himself when the other car slowed down and how he shivered now that it was long past midnight and the weather was oddly freezing cold.
