With a notebook, pen, and box of CD's in hand, I walked around my home looking for a particular housekeeper of mine.

"Maria, my dear," I said finding her in the kitchen.

Her eyes lit up as I approached her.  "Oh, yes, Mr. Jackson?"  Her timid tone contradicted the beaming smile that was drawn upon her face.

"I need you to do me a small favor," I asked as the distance closed between us.

"Of course."  Her hands folded on her lap as she stood up straight and gave me her full attention.  I think she thought she was in trouble.  But that was never the case with her or anyone really.

I handed the box to her and she took it with confusion.  "I need you to translate these songs for me."  In the box were Shakira's second and new Spanish albums.

"Every song?"

"Yes.  Every song."  I threw the notebook in pen in the box.  "And please don't tell anyone about this?"

She released a sigh of relief.  "I promise.  You have my word, Mr. Jackson," she said with a smirk and wink.  "May I work in the library?"

"Yes.  Of course.  When you're done, just leave the CD's in there.  This is the only thing I want you working on right now.  And I want the closest translation possible but I'm not asking for you to do it word for word because I know sometimes it won't make sense when you do it that way.  So just make me understand what she's trying to say in each line," I stressed.

"You got it," she said as she turned and walked away.

I was getting ready to head out for the day, so I prayed by time I made it home in the late hours of the night, she would have it all ready for me.

And Maria did indeed. I made it home a little after 3 a.m.  The notebook, filled now with her words, was waiting for me on my bed.  I couldn't wait to stick my nose in it.  I didn't even change my clothes.  I simply just removed my jacket and shoes and started reading.  It was as if I was looking into Shakira's diary.

I didn't really get the chance to listen to her new album yet so I had no rhythm's going on in my head.  I simply just read them as if I was reading poems.

En Tus Pupilas/In Your Pupils

(Quand tu me prends dans tes bras

Quand je regarde dans tes yeux

Je vois que Dieu existe

Ce n'est pas dur croire) ???  I'm sorry Mr. Jackson but I do not know French

A snicker slipped through my lips as I read Maria's side note.

I also gave her the lyrics on sheets just in case she couldn't make out the words by just hearing the music and/or she just wanted to translate it that way.  It was perfectly fine though that she couldn't understand the French opening because I speak a little bit of it myself and I was actually able to understand what it said.  'When you take me in your arms, when I look into your eyes, I know God still exists.  You make me believe.'

Before I met you the world was flat

Even though you debate it Mr. Galileo.

And I got tired of kissing frogs in vein.

Because my Prince Charming,

I never found.

And then you arrived,

Restoring my faith.

Without poems and without flowers

But with flaws and with mistakes
