Rejected When I Need You [Werewolf Romance]

Alpha Jonathon looked around the dinner table at his pack. They were being unusually quiet tonight and he had no idea why. They would normally be yacking away with one another, smiling and laughing up a storm. That wasn’t the case tonight. In fact, some of the youngsters, including his daughter, seemed a bit upset.

“What is the meaning of this?” his voice boomed across the room.

Every single person froze and their eyes snapped up to look at him.

“Is there something wrong Alpha?” his Beta, Maxwell, asked.

“I want to know why in the world the young ones of my pack seem so solemn tonight. Is there something that happened in school that I should know of?” he asked the pack.

Nobody said a word. He grit his teeth and slammed his hand down on the table, demanding answers.

“Alpha…” his daughter began.

“If you are going to speak to me Juliette, you will call me father. I may be your Alpha, but you are my kin,” he said.

“Yes father,” she said, bowing her head in submission.

“I will explain,” a weak voice said from a table off to the side.

He turned his head to see the blonde haired girl that looked to be about his daughter’s age. She was shaking under his gaze.

“Do not be afraid, young one. I will not harm you,” he reassured her. “Now if you would please explain…”

She visibly relaxed. “Something did happen at school yesterday and today. Seven of us have experienced the worst emotional pain in a werewolf’s life. We were rejected by our mates.”

Anger filled the Alpha’s body. He couldn’t believe that seven men in his pack had caused such pain to the females, especially their mates. They couldn’t do it without hurting themselves, so why in the world did they do it?

“Who are these females?” he questioned.

“Alpha, I do not mean to disrespect, but I would rather not reveal their identities in front of the pack. I am willing to speak to you in private,” she said.

He nodded. “I understand. And I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Some may wish to keep it private,” he said. “Dinner is dismissed. You may stay and finish your meals, but you are not forced to stay seated at the table. Come with me, child.”

Evangeline got up from her chair, following him into his officer. He sat at the chestnut colored desk and motioned to the chair in front of him. She took a seat.

“What is your name darling?”

“Evangeline Desperado, sir. My sister is Catherine. You may know her as well as my parents.”

“Ah, yes I know your family. I had no clue that Samuel and Rosalinda had another daughter. Why have I never met you?”

“Well, they certaintly do. I’m actually Catherine’s twin. And as for meeting me, I, uh, I don’t exactly get along with many people here,” she admitted, blushing. “I tend to keep to myself.”

“Oh…” he trailed off, speechless for the first time in his life. “Anyways, who are the females I must know of?”

Evangeline began rattling off names, including herself, but when she got to the Alpha’s daughter’s name, he was furious. Who would dare reject the Alpha child?

“I will find out who the mates of all these young women are and it will be dealt with. Do not worry my dear, your mate will come to you eventually,” he tried to reassure her.

“I don’t know about that Alpha, but thank you. Maybe the Moon Goddess made a mistake in putting me with him. He was right, I am too weak to make it through the Supernatural world,” she said, looking at the ground.

“You are not weak, my child. Stay strong. Now go finish your dinner and get to bed. You have school in the morning,” he ordered.

“Yes, sir.”

He pats the girl on the back and sent her on her way. As she made her way back to her room, she wondered what exactly the Alpha would do.

Meanwhile. The boys were fuming. They couldn’t believe that the loner had the nerve to tell the Alpha about what had happened. If it were up to them, it’d be kept a secret.

“I’m going to make her life a living hell,” Michaelangelo growled to his friend.
