Chapter 36
"I love you Gabrielle. With all that I am, I love you."
Wolfe's words still echoed in my head a few days later. And just like every other time that I thought about it, a big goofy smile appeared on my face. We were mates so it wasn't a suprise, but with Wolfe I had been doubtful. He'd fought our relationship since day one so I had truly believed that I would never really have a proper mating.
"Gabrielle? Did you hear what I said?"
Aimee's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"What? Uh, yeah." I lie, feeling my face redden. My heat had lasted 3 (Amazing) days, and now that it was over Wolfe had dragged me to AImee so she could check out my arm.
"No you didn't, but I will repeat myself cause I like you." Aimee says, trying to sound stern and failing miserably.
"Sorry." I shrug, grinning back at her.
"You practically have hearts floating around your head." Aimee fake gags.
"Hey, you would too."
"Now that is something that I know will NEVER happen." AImee denies, her smile gone.
"Huh?"
"Never mind, let's just get this over with so you can go back to your mate."
Before I can ask her what she means she continues, "So you say the pain is gone?"
"Uh...yep. Completely gone." My arm had stopped hurting and it had stopped growing as well. I wasn't really worried about it so much now, I mean if it grew it grew and if it didn't then i'd deal. It had already grown so much that really only my hand was missing. These past days had me feeling more and more confident with myself. There was only one thing that was bothering me now. I still hadn't yet shifted.
"Well that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad..." Aimee says as she comes nearer to check out my arm.
"What I'm worried about is why I haven't yet shifted." I admit to her.
"Give it time,Gabs. You know it's different for everyone." she reassures me.
I'd spoken to my mom the day before and she said that it had taken her only 3 days to shift after completing the bond.
"I guess your right." I sigh, pulling my sleeve back down.
"It'll happen soon, you'll see." AImee promises as she steps back so I can jump off the small examination table I was sitting on.
"Ahh, your bodyguard is here." she mutters to herself as she turns towards the counter, her clipboard open in front of her.
"Hey, you almost done in here?" Marcus's head pops in at the door.
Wolfe and I had argued about this most of the morning, but in the end I had given in. He was going to be busy most of the day with Frederick and he also had to call my dad up and check on the pack back home, so he had decided that Marcus would 'babysit' me.
"Actually we're done already. Is he still with Frederick?" I ask Marcus.
"Nope." Marcus grins at me.
I frown at his expression. "Okay....so where is he?"
"Training." If possible, his grin got even wider.
"Training?" He hadn't mentioned having to train today. Marcus just nods at me.
"Training??" I repeat.
"Yeah, he's training your little friend."
"Jerry?" Aimee and I both ask.
"Yep."
"Shit." Aimee curses as she pushes past Marcus to exit the room. I quickly follow her out, Marcus catches up and walks next to me.
"Marcus, when you say training......?" I trail off.
"Yeah, he's beating the shit out of Jerry."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh my god..." Aimee's whisper barely registered in my head as I stared at the scene in front of me. Jerry was in his half form with most of his clothes torn off. He had a little bit of blood dripping down his leg and most of his body was covered in fur. He was easily twice his original size. His face was elongated to a muzzle that made him look like some kind of wolf/human hybrid.
But that wasn't what was catching my eye.
It was Wolfe.
He had shifted to his wolf form and he was breath takingly beautiful. I had never seen his wolf form so this was a first for me. He was pure black with surprisingly shining yellow eyes. He was snarling as he ran around Jerry, coming in close to snap at him and then darting quickly away. There were a few people around snickering as Jerry clumsily tried to grab a hold of Wolfe.
"You have to stop him, Gabrielle." AImee whispers from next to me.
"I.." I didn't even know what to say, I was speechless.
"Oh come on, he's barely even touching him. Stop babying him." Marcus scoffs.
