Chapter 20

         Alice tentatively walked over to James' room, tears streaming down her face . She  knocked on the door lightly, James opened the door in his pyjamas , his hair ruffled, his face showing signs of obvious strain. He looked suprised to see her there."Alice? Are you okay, what's the matter?" He asked grabbing her shoulders."He wont stop,He's here and He..." She started ,not able to speak , tears making her throat tight.James pulled her into his room and sat her on his bed."Alice, what are you talking about?"He asked her gently. She brushed hair out of her face,"He won't stop, James, he won't." She repeated, choking on her tears. "Ssh, Alice calm down okay," He said pulling her into a hug.She kept repeating  that 'He' wouldn't stop whatever it was he was doing.

A few minutes later, her cries had calmed down to small hiccups, "So Alice, you wanna tell me what's going on?" He asked pulling away to look at her face. "He wont stop hitting me." Alice said looking around her, terrified. "Who's hitting you Alice?" James asked, sighing tiredly. "M-m-my Dad,but he's stopped now you're here." She said, terror still in her voice. "Alice, your Dad's not here." James said trying to reassure her. "Don't lie to me James!" She yelled, "Okay just don't lie to me." She said more calmly, still flustered. "Alice," James said putting a hand on her shoulder, she shrugged it off. "I knew you wouldn't believe me! I knew it! Aaargh!" She yelled running out of his room.

Alice looked around her ,taking in her surroundings, as the walls rippled. She ran in terror trying to get away from the man in the corner, the man who'd ruined her childhood. He was here again, here to ruin her life. She ran into another room, sweating profusely. She slid down the door, put her head in her hands and cried. "Alice?" Remy asked getting out of his bed and rubbing at his eyes.He came over to her and put his arm around her shoulders. She looked up at him and saw he was only in his boxers."Oh God, Alice are you okay?" He asked calmly. "No. No I'm not, He was chasing me."She said looking around the room in search of the childhood snatcher. Before he could answer she spoke again. "I mean he's already hit me more times than I can count , and he's coming back for more." Remy's features changed immediately. "Alice, who's coming after you!?" Remy asked grabbing a baseball bat that was lying around. "My Dad, he's outside." She said.

Remy pushed her away from the door and went outside,the expression on his face showing he was ready to kill."COME OUT THEN , YOU PUSSY!" Remy yelled.There as no answer, Alice heard a door open. "Remy, do you know what time it is?" Wyatt asked. "Alice's Dad is here." Remy said. "Where?" Wyatt asked angrily. "I don't know, but Im waiting for the pussy to come out of his hiding place."He yelled viciously.She heard another door open and this time James spoke, "My uncle's not here." He said tiredly. "What?!?Ali-" James interrupted him, "He's not here okay!" "How d'you know that?" Remy asked, his anger seemingly dissipating. "Because, Alice is high okay. She's high." He said sounding forlorn. She heard him walk away and a door close. Remy walked back into the room a few seconds later.

"You can't believe him, he's part of His crew." Alice said looking into Remy's eyes. He looked down at her sympathetically, dropping the bat he was holding. It fell to the ground with a loud clatter.Alice shirked back into a corner. "Alice, why don't you just go to bed," Remy suggested coming over to her. She nodded feebly and climbed onto his bed. Remy laughed softly, "Uh, Alice. I meant your own bed." He said. Alice looked up at him with overly large eyes. "Please Rem Bear, I feel safe when I'm with you," She pleaded, already snuggling into the covers. "I guess that's a yes." He mumbled going over to his drawer to find some pyjama bottoms. He put them on and climbed into his bed careful not to wake Alice who had already fallen fast asleep.
