She stands calmly at the edge of the park, the sun shines down just beyond her. Children are playing, a family is picnicking in the shade under a sturdy oak tree, joy fills the air around them.

She looks in on the joyous occasion, as if seperated by a thick glass wall. On her side of the glass the world is completely gray, and deserted. The colors aren't as bright, and there is a constant fog that surrounds her. It is bleak and hallow. She vaguely remembers it wasn't always this way.

Her face shows no emotion, yet her fingers gently caress the glass that separates her. As if she is witnessing it all through a one way mirror.

She begins to examine a little girl in the grass, twirling around like a ballerina. The child was wearing a yellow sundress. Her fine, wheat colored spirals dancing along with her as she carelessly spun in circles. She could tell the small girl was laughing, by the widened smile spread across her face, but she couldn't hear her joy.

Letting out a small sigh she bitterly turns away, hesitantly walking back into the world behind her.

She began wandering down a wide deserted road, that seems to stretch on and on. She has wandered down this road many times but has never reached the end.

From out of nowhere, a vibrant butterfly delicatley flickers around her, it's colors reminding her of a once memsmerizing blue sky, it was if it was trying to get her attention. In a few seconds it quickly disappeared down the road. She ran after it, desperatley trying to catch another glimpse, but it had been swallowed by the fog. In that quick moment, she remembered what is was to experience a true feeling of magic. Her expression went from amazement, to a deep sorrow. The realization of what her world has become, hit her in the chest like a knife. Weak and defeated tears begin to well up in her eyes as all strength is lost in her body, and her legs weaken beneath her. She plops down on the black gravel and weeps. Salty teardrops carelessly smear the thick black mascara down her cheeks.

Suddenly she hears the pattering of the rain all around her. A loud boom of thunder roared from above. Her cries become deeper, and begin to strengthn the storm. As if nature was in sync with her emotions. A startling bolt of lightning crashed down from the tortured sky, fracturing a nearby tree, ruthlessly splitting through it's wooden core. After what seemed like hours, she ran her fingers gently across her face. Letting out her last snivel she slowly rose to her feet and closed her eyes, leaning her head back as if to surrender herself to the storm. Her straight blackened hair dripping from the ends. Her chin discarding droplets of rainwater. The rain calmed and gradually came to a complete halt. The relentless chaos from above subsided. All of a sudden the darkness lifts, as if the entire world has shifted. Like magic, a divine rainbow spread out across the sky. Her eyes widen in bewilderment.

Everything looked so bright, so crisp, so magestic. A smile spread across her uncertain face. The day has finally come.

A little girl in a yellow sundress walks over and grabs her by the hand. She is led out into the sunlight.
