Pyschotic Heart (ON HOLD)

“Can I come in?” said a childish, girl voice.

“Sure.” Said April as she opened the door and the little figure stepped in.

“What are you doing?” asked the curious blonde child.

“Homework.”  April sat in her bed  and put her math notebook on her lap.

“You are always doing homework!” The little girl complained as she sat next to her.

She looked no older than five years old. Her hair was short, straight and blonde.

“I am, right?” she looked at the  innocent blue eyed girl sitting by her side.

“Yeah, and you never play with me!”

April laughed and patted her small head.

“I’m sorry Susan, Go play with Victor. He never does homework.”

Susan smiled in excitement and jumped off the bed. “True!” she rushed to the door and left the room.

April half smiled and went back to her homework. “That guy…” she thought out loud as she recalled what had happened. “Why would he steal all those medicines?”

He didn’t even look like the type to do so. He looked like a nice person.

“Ah, Susan left her slipper.” April noticed the pink slipper on her room’s floor.

That child. So innocent and happy, why would somebody ever abandon her?

Susan was April’s non-biological sister. Her parents, who were both doctors, adopted the young girl when she was abandoned at birth. Found by the police in a box , baby Susan was sent to the nearest hospital, and she ended up being April’s mom case. Soon, of course, as loving and sensible as her mom was, she could not think of giving the child away to an orphanage, and took responsibility over Susan. Shortly afterwards, they legalized the adoption and little Susan was gladly welcomed to the Rawlings family.

Susan was the name that was going to be given to April, but her mom liked April better, but her dad liked Susan better, so they agreed that their next child would be named Susan, except their next child was a boy, Victor.

Luckily for them, a baby girl did appear on their life afterwards.

April smiled as she remembered Susan’s innocence.

Then her smiled disappeared. Somehow, Susan reminded her of him. Well, they both actually had dimples on their cheeks, and their smiles were quite innocent and childish. Except that, as far as April knew, he was not exactly an innocent person.

“Amanda?”

“Here.”

“April?”

“Present.”

Mr. George took attendance on his grading notebook.

 “Samatha?”

“Here.”

“Now, the boys.”  Announced Mr. George.

“Alex?”

No answer.

“Alex?”

Mr. George looked around the classroom.

“Not here.” He said to himself as he wrote a cross next to Alexander Blake.

The classroom’s door opened and a tall, white skinned boy stepped in.

His green eyes staring at the empty seat he usually sat on,and he walked towards it silently.

“Good morning Alex?” said Mr. George in a sarcastic tone .

His name is Alex? It’s him… that guy…

He put his grey book bag on the floor next to his seat.

It’s the book bag he was using that night.

“Late Mr. Blake.”  Mr.George told him. “Why are you late?”

Alex just sat and took out a notebook from his book bag and placed it on his desk.

Mr. George stared at him waiting for Alex to speak up.  But Alex seem to have no intentions on doing so, he just stared at him silently, waiting for him to start the class.

Mr. George sighed, giving up.

“Austin?”

“Here”

“Bryan?”

“Here”

With the corner of his right eye, he noticed a chestnut haired girl observing him. He turned his head towards her.

It’s definitely him.

She recognized his dark, straight hair, and his sharp green eyes.  Yet there was something that she didn’t recognize about him.  His smile was gone, his lips were serious, and so where his eyes. He didn’t have that childish look anymore, in fact, right now; he seemed like a mature, and perhaps even evil, person.

Alex stared at her like indifferently, then he faced front again.

April could not take her eyes away from him. He had stolen that medicines. Why? Now that she had him on the seat right next to her, she couldn’t help but thinking on why.
