Chapter 16- Should I re-write it?!
Aiden drummed his fingers across the white surface of the table. The constant sound of his hands movements was making my ears burn. His head was turned to the side. He wasn't looking at the window or at me. His blues eyes that bulged with deep red veins looked toward his brother. Ace was leaning against the window and avoided his brother's menacing, cold stare. Aiden stood up and his chair creaked.
"Ace." He said. He hissed his brother's name between clenched teeth.
"Have you forgotten to speak?"
Ace leaned over the counter and stared out the window. He smiled when he caught a glimpse of his reflection in the window. He smoothed his hair back with his fingers. He couldn't help but admire his beautiful reflection.
When he turned to face Aiden, the smile had vanished from his face and was replaced with a disturbed frown. His fingers dug into the palm of his hands so hard that I could see blood pooling to the surface.
"You tell her. I don't want to tell her." Ace said. Aiden laughed coldly, walked across the kitchen, and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder.
"I don't want to tell her, either." Aiden said.
"I'm going to pack. You tell her." Ace said.
"You always try to act like the brave one. When a problem arises, you run! Dad use to do the same goddamn thing!" Aiden said.
Ace's eyes turned as sharp as a knife. His eyes were almost pure black and he looked ready to kill. I had seen AceÕs change so many colors.
I've always been aware that the darkness in his eyes is a part of him but his eyes looked so venomous. I stepped back and I felt my back cutting against the hard ridges of the cabinet. Ace turned slowly, but the darkness in his eyes remind still and daunting. His movements were so slow and calculated. He reminded so much of a predator, waiting for the right moment to attack his innocent, unsuspecting prey.
"What did you say?" He asked. Ace towered over his brother. Aiden was bigger in size, but Ace was slightly tallerÑonly by an inch. Ace's hand collided with Aiden's jaw. The fight didn't end there.
Ace's fingers duck into his brother's shoulder and he kicked him below his knee.
The force of the kick was so strong that it knocked Aiden to the ground. They both fell on top of each other. The ground shook beneath with a mighty force. Ace grunted as he made punch after punch.
The strange thing was that Aiden didn't have fight him. He had the power to fight back but he never did.
"I will never be him!" Ace said. Ace was so consumed by the dark rage that pulsed through his veins that he couldn't see anything else.
His chest shook violently. There was blood and purple bruises were already forming along Aiden's jaw. Aiden grabbed Ace's hands. His hands locked tightly around Ace's arms.
"Are you done?" Aiden asked.
To my shock, Aiden flipped Ace on his back. Ace was face pressed tightly against the ground. He was having difficult time breathing. Aiden shook his head in disgust.
"What have you really proven?" He asked.
Aiden released his brother from his grip. Ace stood up, grabbed his black coat, and stormed outside. He didn't go very far. I watched as he walked onto the porch, peeled off his coat, and sighed.
He looked as if he was swearing. I saw his lips move in a strange beat, but I was too far away to hear him. He pulled a cigarette out of his coat pocket and lit it. I had no idea that Ace even smoked. Aiden braced his hands against the counter.
"Be quiet, so I can think." He said.
He pressed his lips together.
"Ace and I am are leaving town for good. We don't know where we are going. But we are leaving and we won't be coming back here." Aiden said.
My heart sunk. Was I going to lose them both?
