Damon’s POV
“Damon. Damon, come on wake up.” A voice beckoned. It was accompanied by an annoying beeping that sounded suspiciously like my alarm clock. Annoyed I tried to ignore it. But the more I tried the louder the stupid beeping noise got. Until it sounded like it was right next to me. I groaned and tried to move my arm to shut it off but my arm wouldn’t move. It tingled like I had been laying on it too long and it had fallen asleep.
I sighed and started to open my eyes. Which seemed a whole lot harder than usual. I regretted it the second they opened because I was blinded by a bright light. I blinked a couple times trying to get used it. “Damon!” Someone shouted. I looked over to see a shadowy figure sitting by my bed.
“Beeping.” I croaked. My voice was horse like I hadn’t used it in a while.\
“What.” The shadow asked.
“Turn the damned beeping off.”
“I can’t it’s your heart monitor.” I stared at the shadow confused. Heart monitor? What the hell did I need a heart monitor for? “Damon do you know where you are?” I laid there confused. Where I was? I was obviously at home in bed.
“You’re in the hospital.” A new voice said. I blinked a couple more times everything slowly coming into focus. They were right I was in a hospital bed. With Matty and Cory staring down at me with matching worried expressions. I stared back at them completely un-amused.
“Why am I in the hospital?”
“You don’t remember?” Cory asked. I rolled my eyes.
“Obviously not. Or I wouldn’t have asked.” I snapped. They both flinched.
“Well I-I u-um.” Corry stuttered.
“Spit it out!” I growled frustrated. I hated being in hospitals they made me edgy and they smelled like bleach.
“I hit you with my car.” I felt my eyes go wide as I stared at him. Then suddenly the memories came rushing back. Me standing in the middle of the road crying like a fool. And the black Toyota. It seemed like a message from God. Like he was laughing at me. Taunting me with the chance to see Ally and my mom again.
“That was you?” I asked. He nodded sheepishly. I opened my mouth to yell at him but was interrupted by a small voice.
“Cory look!” We all turned to see a little red haired girl walk into the room holding up an ice cream cone. She was followed by Liz and David. I stared at her in wonder. She looked exactly like Ally.
“Hey cutie.” Cory held out his arms and the little girl went running to him. As she got closer I noticed a small difference. It couldn’t be Ally, her eyes were different. This girl had green eyes. Ally had had the same unusual eyes as me. One blue, one green. But I couldn’t stop staring at her. They looked so much alike. They could have been twins.
I forced myself to look away from her only to come face to face with the curious stares of everyone else in the room. I could see it in their faces. I clearly wasn’t the only one that thought she looked familiar. And they were all waiting to see how I would react to her.
I bit my lip and looked around the room. The walls were pale white and there were machines scattered around the room. I noticed I was hooked up to and IV. “What’s the damage?” I asked.
“Stitches fractured skull fractured leg and some bruises.” I looked down at my leg that was wrapped in a pink cast and sticking out from under the blanket. I looked up at David.
“Why is my cast pink?” I wondered allowed. He smiled and gestured to the little girl who was now sitting on Cory’s lap. I turned my attention to her. She Smiled a big gap tooth smile.
