The aftermath of the interviews had begun.

Adriana knocked on my door.
"Come in," I said.
She was still wearing her long, flowing golden gown. She sat down on my bed next to me. SHe began to talk but she avoided looking directly at me.
"Cato, your intentions may have been great----I appreciate what you did. But Ivy needs her brother. She needs you."
I didn't say anything. I just sat there, motionless.
"Why did you volunteer Cato? Because it clearly wasn't really fr Ivy. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't for you either."
