Never Just Friends (On Hold)

It’s my first day of school i've just got to make this year great. My senior year is going to be just perfect. And I might just get a guy this year i've lost weight and gotten a lot of self-confidence. Who in the hell am I kidding, every year we have the same wack guys. I need to walk around and try and find someone I know. I hear my name, turn around, and see a couple of my friends standing in the middle of the hallway.

I've known them all since the seventh grade. There's Avery my tall perfect friend,she’s light skin and  she's always had boys going after her. She's smart, beautiful, and has top and bottom (if you know what I mean). There's Angela the darkest and shortest of the bunch at 4' 9", but her height doesn't stop her. She's loud and really funny and she's always got some guy after her. There's Avery's boyfriend Curtis, he's more of a really heavyset buff guy, and Angela's boyfriend Phil, he's a sophomore he's really tall, built and chunky.

I walk over. "What's up guys?" I say.

"Just talking about football, that’s all these guys do." Angela laughs.

"Don't I know it" I laugh and give them both hugs. "I can't wait for the season to kick off. If we don't get a lot of wins this season I'm going to cry.

"These guys are all ways at practice, so as much work as they put in we better win." Avery laughed. Her eyes start to look past me and she says "Don't look now, but there's a guy staring at you".

"Nah." I say, "He's probably looking at one of you guys."

"No way. If he's looking at us he must be cross-eyed." Angela says.

I look back and see this group of cute guys, and yep just as Avery said there's one looking directly at me. He looked spicy (my word for anything of beauty), he was white, tall (taller than me that is, it sucks being 5'9". It's very difficult to find guys my height.)and, he had curly dark brown hair. He looks like he works out a lot. He's not my usual type but after the whole thing with Adam I'm open to try something new. He suddenly smiles at me and my insides turn into mush, but then some girl a little shorter than him comes up to him and taps him on the shoulder, she’s got all of his attention. But then I study her face a little more and she looks really familiar, and before actually thinking I call out.

"Jackie!"

She turns her head and looks at me, then gets a smile and screams out "Rachel!"

I walk over to her, and we hug each other tight. "What are you doing here?" she asks.

"The question is what are you doing here?" I ask.

"Well my family and I just moved out here, and my mom enrolled me and my brother to Stevenson because it's a blue ribbon school because she thought that would keep my brother from getting into any more fights."

"Really? I had no idea you even had a brother."

"Oh yeah" she says,"That's him over there."

And yes she would just happen to point to the spicy guy I just saw. She waves him over. Damn my stomach gets tight watching him come over. Avery and Angela Flank me and start looking at me, so I introduce my friends to Jackie. "Hey, Angie, Avery, this is Jackie. Jackie this is Angela and Avery" I say pointing to them. “I know Jackie from a middle school I went to in Detroit. We had homeroom together"

By this time Jackie's brother has reached us, and I hate to admit that I’m just dying to find out his name. I hate when I do that thought. Whenever I see a cute guy he completely takes over my thoughts. Not That I’ve ever made it with any of the guys I like been single my entire life, but this year that status is going to change. Adam just strung me along and said that I wasn't to date any other guy, he's was really possessive.

"Hi!" Avery, Angela, and Jackie all say at the same time. We all exchange giggles. Then Jackie introduces her brother to us.

"Rachel, Angela, Avery. This is my brother Brian." Jackie says.

"Hi!" We all say at the same time.

"I met Rachel in sixth grade at Cleveland."

"Yep. Old buddies, wait how come I didn't see you at Cleveland?" I ask Brian.

"I didn't go to Cleveland I went to a different school because my mom thought that if I went to the same school as Jackie I would get into more fights looking out for her." He says.

"That makes a lot of sense" my voice laced with sarcasm.

'Damn way to ruin a first impression. Me and my big ass mouth'

The minute bell rings and everyone starts to head off and scurry for class. Saved by the bell.

"I hope we have a class together Jackie so we can get to reminisce, wait what lunch do you have?"

"A." She says.

"Me too. We can all sit together. Avery and Angie have it too." I say

"I do too." Brian says.

"Sweet! we're about to clown, see you guys then." I laugh. And we all head out seperate ways
