Chapter 10

Noah watched as Susie thought about what he had said. A part of him didn't want to tell her that but the other part thought that part had gone bonkers. She chewed at her bottom lip, deep and thought, and kept her eyes on the floor.

"You really think so?"

She looked up at him and said at last. Noah could feel the debate going on between her heart and her brain. As much as it somehow hurt to say this, he did really think Mike wanted her back. Judging by the number of text messages and phone calls he had gotten after Noah had disclosed Susie's location, Mike wanted her back bad.

"I know so Susie! Check your phone. He hasn't stopped texting and calling you since you strode off from the cafeteria table."

She looked at him with lose warm brown eyes of hers. She took a deep breath and sighed. Noah stood up and put back his chair. He realized that he had never appreciated how beautiful she was. He mentally slapped himself for that comment but it was true. She was tall and lithe. Her caramel blonde hair were just past her waist and her chocolate brown eyes sparkled all the time. Wow he sounded corny, he thought to himself.

"Oh Noah! I don't know what to do! He acted like an oaf and now I'm just so confused!" she said after a while. She was worrying over Mike, it kind of reminded him of when she used to stalk him. Arghhh! These stupid male hormones of his were going overdrive! 

"Look Susie, just go to him and talk it out! Maybe he loved you so much that he was afraid he was going to lose you if he left your hand. As stupid as it sounds, Mike's never been this protective over any girl! And there have been many! So instead of moping about why don't you go AND. TALK. IT. OUT!" he ranted.

Okay so the yelling part wasn't necessary but how else would he come over from these stupid film-y feelings going inside his head. She looked down. "I-I didn't...I didn't know you'd be so....mad at me asking for advice..." she stammered.

Shit. She stood up and looked him in the eye. The tears were already flowing down her face. "I-I just thought...you'd help. I mean, I'm not stalking you am I? And...the reason I came to ask you for help was..was because I don't have any other...friends to talk to...I guess I thought that since we'd been through so much with my 'crazy' stage...you'd help....I'm sorry Noah. I shouldn't have come here and acted like a baby. I'm leaving now. Thank you...and good bye."

Saying that she left the rrom and he heard her running down the stairs. A few minutes later, he heard the front door slam shut. He'd messed up...big time. And the funny part? He had no idea what had come over him. Damn him.

He sat on his bed, his head in his hands, when his cellphone vibrated in his pocket. He reached in to get it. It was a text. From none other than his runaway date:

Mia - OMG! Noah am sooo sorry!! Brendan broke his leg and I caught carried awayy! Call me? -MB

 He sighed. He really wasn't in the mood for anything right now but then he had to listen to what she had to say. He scrolled through his contacts till he found her and pressed 'Call'.

She picked up on the first ring. "Oh Noah! I seriously am so sorry! And I was so looking forward to our date!" she squealed as soon as she picked up. 

"Oh no, it's fine really. You weren't answering your texts so I figured it must be some emergency or something..."

"No I feel so bad about this! It's just that Brendan broke his leg after football practise and since I was waiting for you, there was no one else to take him to the hospital except my sister and I! I'll make it up to you! Are you free tonight?"

"Uhhh...I'm not busy as far as I know, you know I'm a really busy guy. I think I can squeeze you in tonight." he said with a smirk. He heard laughter on the other end. They quickly made plans to meet at the cinema later in the night and watch 'The Lucky One', not really Noah's cup of tea but Mia gushed about how much she wanted to see it so he gave in.
