“What about your mother? Where is she?” John asked when he thought it was safe.
“OH MY GOD!” She shrieked and jumped up with a start.
“What? What’s the matter?” John asked with genuine fear.
“She thinks I have run away from her! I left her with Camille and Marcus! I left her a letter telling her I ran away to get away from you. She probably thinks she’ll never see me again when I’m just a mile away from her!” Artemis finished and jumped up from where she was sitting. Running to her silver cape and her hunting boots, she put on her outdoor gear and went for the door.
“I’m coming with you, whether you want me to or not.” John said, grabbing his cape of invisibility. Artemis groaned which elicited a laugh from John. Slipping on his boots, he opened up the door for her and waited for her to walk out the door.
“Just so you know, I’m not too happy about you coming and babysitting me. I’m a grown woman who can do what she wants. Nevertheless, I bet you would follow me anyways…So I will ask you one thing; don’t come into their house with me. Stay outside where she can’t see you because I don’t want her to fall to her knees and think she’s in trouble. Okay?” Artemis said with annoyance and anger.
“No promises.” John said with a large grin. Artemis was not in the mood for his games and she glared back at him waiting for the correct response. “Fine, I promise to be unseen.” John said with a groan.
“Thanks Babe.” Artemis said with a smile. She gave him a quick peck on the lips, grabbed his hand, and they both walked out the door together and out of the castle. Using the back entrance of the castle, Artemis and John put on their capes and walked down the dirt road that led to the town. They arrived in the town at 4 p.m. and people were beginning to close up shop. Artemis knew that Camille and Marcus closed up their shop at three because they needed to get the kids from school. They would be home by the time they got there.
Continuing to walk through the town, Artemis realized how much she had missed it within the past few days. They continued on the dirt road path until the town scene changed into a scene filled with beautiful golden wheat stalks with green farmlands in the distance. Artemis envied the scene in front of her; Camille was the luckiest girl alive. John squeezed her hand a little to remind her of his presence and she stopped and looked at him. He turned to her and gently pulled her silver cape off her head.
“You are so beautiful my love.” He said in a light whisper. “Your beautiful golden hair is envied by the sun goddess herself.” John whispered. The purr of his voice was making her excited, and visions of previous nights crossed her mind….
Artemis was pulled into a passionate kiss so fast she barely had time to finish her thoughts and a growl escaped John’s mouth. She smiled and suppressed a chuckle at his reaction. He must have been reading her mind again.
It’s not reading when you’re practically shouting it out to me. Keep up those dirty thoughts and we won’t get to their house for another few hours. John’s voice said in her mind.
That sounds nice, Artemis purred back to him. His kiss deepened and she had to suppress another laugh.
Keep it up woman; I don’t mind taking you right here on this road, John growled back at her. Artemis broke the kiss for air and let out her suppressed laugh.
“Let’s get going; I don’t want anyone to see us.” Artemis said with another laugh.
“Alright. Just keep your dirty thoughts to yourself or else I won’t be able to contain myself much longer.” John said with a laugh.
