•••Chapter 6•••

•••Valentina's POV•••

"Valentina, I was only joking when I said you couldn't climb to the top of the school, now get down from there!" Matt called from the ground.

I swing my head back to look at the boys. "You're lying! Never!"

"No, I agree. There's no way she can climb the whole way," Mello said, clearly amused by the situation.

"I'll show you all!" I yelled.

"Go on then!"

"Mello, stop encouraging her!" Matt said.

"I agree, this is a terrible idea," Near drawled.

"Shut it, Tinkerbell!" I continued to climb.

"Valentina, you're going to hurt yourself!" L shouted.

No, really. His voice does actually go that loud.

"I don't care, I wanna prove you all wrong!" I gave them my best evil laugh, pausing slightly to jump onto another ledge.

"You're going to get into trouble," Near reasoned.

"And?"

"If she wants to do it, then I'm sure she will," Mello interrupted. "Besides, it's not like she'll actually get to the top."

"Mello, stop it!" L said.

"Stop what?" he asked innocently.

I looked back just in time to see L shake his head. "Fine, I give up. Go on, V, I'm sure you can do it."

"Thanks, L!"

I jumped onto another ledge. Nearly there...

"Holy crap, she's gonna make it," Matt said in disbelief.

"Did you ever doubt me, Matty?" I shouted down.

"Dammit, stop calling me that!"

I laughed evilly. "Never!"

Just one more ledge to go...

I swung my hand up and gripped the next ledge. After that one, it would be easy to jump up to the roof. I scrabbled around for a few seconds, before grabbing hold of it properly. I pulled myself up, then used my feet to pull myself into the roof.

"Ha! I told you all!" I teased, grinning.

"Yes, you did. Now come down from there!" Matt called up to me.

"Whatever," I said, rolling my eyes. I crouched down and grabbed the same ledge. It wobbled a little, but it'd be fine. As soon as I dropped my whole weight onto the ledge, it began to crumble. I edged along as fast as I could, but it was too fast for me. It cracked straight in half, sending me flying to the ground. It was only a two-storey building, so I'd be fine if I didn't land on my head.

I almost laughed as I imagined it. Yeah, I found a way to amuse myself even while falling from a building.

A soft surface broke my fall, in place of a hard concrete slab.

My head was rested on Mello's stomach, who was on the floor groaning. My feet, however, were held up quite easily by L. He'd always told us he was stronger than he looked.

"Thank you, boys," I grinned, standing up. Mello didn't get up. "Well that was certainly fun," I said, kicking side. "Sorry I landed on you, but it was kind of your idea."

"It was Matt's idea," he corrected faintly.

"You encouraged me," I reminded him.

"Shut it." He held out one of his hands, so I helped him up.
