The streets flowed red with the blood of the gods as the Dark Ones ascended from their home in hell, with the intention to reign supreme over the mind, body, and soul of every man, woman, and child of the world. For an eternity they wished to rule, and for an eternity they shall. The gods are powerless to stop them, and the creatures formerly known as humans no longer care to.
No more are they what they once were, for they have cast aside that which made them great, made them human, in favor of nothing but filth!
Oh, how the gods weep for humanity. Tears fell from the heavens when the gods realized that they simple couldn't compete with the millions of Dark Ones. How could so few defeat so many, let alone stand out?
Oh, how the gods wept for humanity. But not once has humanity wept for the gods.
When the paths between the light and the darkness finally revealed themselves, humanity decided that it would be easier for them to take the path of the dark. The lit path contained many obstacles and many trials, but only the bravest of humans were able to conquer these challenges and attain Godhood.
For the few humans who ascended to Godhood, one of which later became known as the god Justice, seeing their brothers and sisters abandon the true path did nothing but bring them sadness and anguish. The young gods watched as their friends, family, and loved ones mutated into gross disfigurations and abominations, anger mixing with disgust and horror.
One god, upon realizing that they could not win if they were to try and confront the Dark Ones directly, decided to try and approach his subjects instead. One eve, the god known as Courage took on the form of a human, unmutated or touched by the Dark Ones, and tried to convince his people to follow him back towards the realm of the light.
"Children," He said, in a voice that echoed in the ears of all who cared to listen, "do you not realize you are wallowing in the stench of a rotting corpse? Do you not yet see that you are walking down a path that leads only to damnation? The Dark Ones offer you glory and happiness, but have you ever stopped to consider the consequences?"
To this day, the response of the humans still shocks and disturbs the gods, for they had the gall to question Courage's words.
"Liar," they said.
"Traitor," they accused.
"False god," they declared.
As more and more humans turned away from the gods, so did the gods begin to question themselves. Were they truly as mighty as they claimed to be, or was Godhood merely a passing phase, soon to be replaced by the next power?
Justice weeps for the future.
