“Exton, will you please come down here and get breakfast. You’re going to be late for school.” 

My mother was always a drag, she was still bossing me around like I’m some teenager, in high school. I just turned twenty and I was a sophomore in college. I rolled my eyes at my mother’s childish statements and continued to put on my eyeliner. Giving my makeup the once over in the mirror, I waltzed over to my closet to pick out something to wear today. 

“Exton, you are going to be late if you don’t hurry.” 

I walked out of my walk in closet and walked over to my door. Throwing it open and walking to the steps forgetting I was in my underwear and my boyfriends shirt. “Mother it  is Tuesday, will you please stop yelling. I have class at two, it is only eleven, and the college is around the street.” I spun on my heels back to my room to finish getting ready.

When it came to talking to my mother, I used drawn out sentences and sometimes I used my best English just to make sure she understood. She was getting out of hand and was taking my dad leaving out on me. It wasn’t fair. I sympathized with her but I didn’t see the need to yell at me all the time for it. 

I walked back into my closet and pulled out a cute pair of cargo shorts and a cute black and pink tank top. I put on my pink flip flops and walked back over to my vanity to see if my curler was heated.

“Bitch, you ready?” 

“God damn it Stacy, you scared the crap out of me.” I just shook my head at my best friend who walked in. She was a cute girl with black curly hair and green eyes. Complete opposite of me. I had long strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. 

“You know you love me. By the way love the shorts.” She flopped down on my bed in her micro mini denim skirt and her off the shoulder green top. She looked like a hoochie, but everyone was used to it by now so I didn’t say anything about it anymore. 

“Thanks.” I looked in the mirror as I curled my hair. We chatted a little about our boyfriends before we walked down stairs to eat breakfast.

“Well hello Stacy, I didn’t hear you come in honey.” My mother knew Stacy came in because she doesn’t knock anymore. She just walks in and usually you have to cut through the kitchen to the steps.

“Very funny Miss. Jackson.” She walked over and hugged my mom and then sat down at the table helping herself to three pancakes and some hash browns. 

“Can you leave some for me little piggy.” I walked over and gave my mom a kiss and a hug and then grabbed a plate and some pancakes. 

We scarfed down our breakfast and then got up to leave for school. I walked into the living room and grabbed my handbag and school bag off the sofa. “Bye mom. Love you I’ll be home around nine.”

“Yeah ok mom, bye.”

“Bye Miss Jackson.”

We walked out of the house and threw our stuff into the back seat of my chevy pick up and hopped in. My truck was my baby. He was black and all back interior and had an amazing sound system that my boyfriend put in. I know most girls, including Stacy loves cars, but not me I love my truck. 

We cranked up some Dirks and Kenny and sang our way to school.

We got to the parking lot in no time and parked and started walking towards the library. When my phone went off. Daniel. I got a huge smile on my face as I answered it.

“Hey baby.” 

“Hey good looking” He was laughing as he said it. I just rolled my eyes. ‘What a dork.’

“Are you in class yet or did you not leave yet?”

“We’re walking into the Library now. Why? Are you not in class?” 

“Nope, Trevor and I are waiting for our two beautiful girlfriends to come and join us in the library.” I smiled and looked over at Stacy.
