"Hey Katniss!" he yells as he runs over here. I don't need to turn around to know that my best friend Peeta Mellark is calling me, I get up and walk over to him.

He swoops in and kisses my cheek. I do the same. This is a friendly gesture. We aren't "together" or anything. Sadly. I've always loved Peeta more than a friend. Of course he doesn't feel the same way.

Why would he have a Seam girl like me when he can have any other girl! Literally any other girl. Every girl in the school fawns over him. He politely refuses their many advances though.

Most people wonder why. He just says he doesn't like them or some other excuse. Not that I mind of course.

Unfortunately our friends have seen this. Peeta and I have a group of friends that we hang out with. There's Haymitch, Finnick, Johanna, Annie, Gale, and Prim joins in when ever we let her.

Peeta has another group that he hangs out with. They are the popular ones. People call them the Careers. Mostly because they can get any job they want, they are cruel and heartless.

In the group is Cato, Glimmer, Clove, Marvel, and Snow. All five of those people hate me with a passion. They think I ruin Peeta's status. Not only in school but everywhere else too.

They don't mind anyone one else in my group, in fact I think they like everyone there, but they just don't like me.

Anyways, our friends like to tease us about being together. Everyone taunts us. Even Prim! But Gale doesn't. He is more of a friend to me and Peeta. We all go hunting on Sundays. Peeta and I go many times during the week just for fun.

He understands that we don't like being teased. But I really wonder why he puts on a grumpy face. Well Gale always has a grumpy face. So I guess he is always tired or some other reason.

While we near our friends it is like always when we show any display of affection. They are giving us knowing looks and the boys are wiggling eyebrows. Gale is glaring at everyone and everything.

"So... What took you so long, had a little FUN behind the school!" Finnick waggles his eyebrows suggestively putting extra emphasis on fun. Everyone except Gale and Prim laughs. Prim because she does not understand.

I blush. And Peeta smirks. "Yeah we did a lot of things, huh Katniss?" he hits me with his shoulder. Everyone again falls into mountains of laughter. A scowl appears on my face.

Peeta frowns at me and puts the edges of my mouth up. "You know I hate it when you scowl," he says softly so only I can hear. I roll my eyes. Peeta says I am beautiful when I smile.

When I challenged him one time asking of I was ugly when I scowled which was most of the time. He replied without missing a beat. "No," he had replied. "You just look unhappy and I don't like seeing you unhappy. "

I had rolled my eyes at that. After the laughter died down Prim asked me oh so innocently. "What are they talking about?" Finnick, Hatmitch, Johanna, Annie,and Peeta all turned bright red, they could barely hold in their laughter.

"Um, well, um," I stuttered not sure what to say. Finnick broke out and started guffawing. I was so annoyed with Finnick that I gave out a frustrated sigh. "Why don't you ask Finnick?" I said.

Prim turned to him. He didn't miss a beat. "Well Prim, when people grow older they have this desire to..." he didn't get to finish. I had already pinned him to the ground and was holding his mouth.

Everyone laughed at this. "Wow Finnick! I cant believe you let a girl take you down!" Haymitch guffawed. After everyone had calmed down we decided to walk home. Gale was in a terrible mood.

"What happened Gale," i asked. "Nothing," he muttered. The others exchanged a look. Except for Peeta, what were they hiding?
