My High School Life

When I got to my first period class, I saw Amanda sitting in the front row right by the door. I felt relieved to know that she was in my class. Otherwise I'll be all alone since I never really talk to anyone else besides Amanda.  

"Hi," I said softly, trying to get the teacher's attention.  

As he heard my voice, the teacher turned towards me. "Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" he asked me, giving me a wide smile. 

"Sure," I said nodding. "Well before this I was home schooled, but before that I did go to a private school like Woodway. My name's Isabella, but you all can call me Izzy if you want." 

Almost all the guys were paying attention to me (more like drooling at me), while some girls, mostly the popular girls, were glaring at me. It seems that the guys here are still pigs and jerks, and the girls just got meaner.  

Looking around the whole classroom, most of the students I remembered, while some, didn't look familiar. The one that stood out the most was Thomas Reed, sitting in the middle row. He was staring at me in a weird way, and I hoped that he didn't recognize me just yet.   

"So Isabella, you were home schooled before?" the teacher asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.  

"Yeah, my parents hired a personal tutor for me," I replied back, giving him a small smile.   

"Oh, I see that's why your last name is..." he started to say when I rushed over to him, covering his mouth just in time.   

"Um, could you not say my last name, I don't want anybody to give me special treatment, just because my family's last name is Ace," I whispered, begging him with my puppy dog eyes.  

He gulped. "Um, sure." 

"Thanks!"

"No problem," he said, grinning, whispering back to me. He turned his attention back to the class, saying, "now, be nice to Isabella and show her around since she's new here." He turned back to face me. "Isabella you can take a seat anywhere that is available."

"Um, alright then," I said nodding my head.  

Facing away from him, I glanced around the room, looking for an empty chair to sit in, finally finding one near Amanda. Well at least I could sit near my best friend, I thought, as I happily walked over to the empty chair. As soon as I was a few steps away from it though, Rachel sat down.  

"Sorry, but I want to sit here," she said with an evil grin plastered on her face.   

Not wanting to make a scene, I nodded at her.  

Man, I really wish I could rub that stupid grin off her face (by punching it), but I didn't want to cause a huge scene on my first day back at school, so I let her be. I glanced around the room once again, finding another seat and of course it was by Thomas. This was not my day!  

Groaning, I moved to the seat next to Thomas very slowly. I didn't want to sit next to him at all! But there were no more available seats anywhere, so I had no other choice.   

Looking down at the floor, away from Thomas' blue eyes, I took my seat. Grabbing my notebook and pen out of my bag, I was ready to learn, even though I probably already learned this stuff from my home tutor; Ms. Miller.  

"Hey, I'm Thomas." Even though I didn't want to, I turned and saw Thomas smiling at me and holding out his hand for me to shake.  

Wow, he's being nice to me for once.  

"Hi," I said not really interested in talking to him.  

"So how do you like our school so far Isabella?" he asked, ignoring the fact that I didn't want to talk to him, putting down his hand, since I obviously wasn't going to shake it.  

"Fine."

"Funny story, you have the same first name as someone I knew before," he said chuckling a little, wanting to continue the conversation.   

That got me interested. "Really now?" I asked my eyebrows raising a little.  

"Yeah, her name was Isabella Ace, but she moved in the middle of my junior year."

"Why did she move?" I asked pretending to be curious, not showing that I already knew the answer to that.   

"Don't really know." He shrugged. "But it was good that she did anyways."
