She sat with him as he died,
She held his hand and she cried.
When the others came to say goodbye,
She found the strength to say it herself.
As he began to fade away,
She whispered three words,
Just three simple words.
Words he had never gotten the chance to say to her.
She choked them out,
one by one.
The words that had so much meaning,
She said one last time.
"I love you,"
She sobbed.
And he said it back to her,
