Chapter 11

Alanna checked to make sure her clothes were perfect, the first of many parties to celebrate the birth of her twins was about to start. The first party was one of the few formal occasions planned for the next few days, with the Gephalim Lords, Nephalim Warlords, S'ephalim Primes, Alanna's family, and any other diplomats who had made it.

“Stop fussing, you look beautiful as always,” Tarval told her as he cradled his daughter.

Alanna grinned at him, “she is going to be a daddy’s girl.”

Tarval smiled, “Of course she is.” Gently he placed the baby back in the crib with her brother before walking over to their mirror. He checked his clothes, unlike any other gatherings no one would be wearing armour during these parties at Dominic’s insistence. This was a party to celebrate new life, not war. As such everyone was wearing something with their keep’s mark on it.

Jewel walked in and smiled as Alanna whistled at her. Her hands anxiously smoothed down the silky fabric of the dress Amy had brought for her. It was deep green and cut in a style that she thought was way too daring but after seeing some of the dresses in one of Amy’s magazines she knew this dress was conservative.

In thanks for everything that Jewel had done for her daughter, Amy had also done Jewel's hair and makeup to match the style of the gown.

She had kept Jewel’s makeup light and gave her a smoky eye look. Her long locks were tamed back in a loose bun with gentle curls framing her face. A length of woven gold draped around her neck and little sparkles of diamonds hung from her ears.

“Wow… you look fabulous Jewel.” Alanna complemented.

“I feel under dressed.” Jewel replied, if she had worn this dress back on earth during her time she would have been hailed as a woman of disrepute.

“The earth I am from… you are overdressed.” Alanna replied as she finished adjusting her simple slip dress that hugged her curves in just the right ways. Leaning against the wall she slipped a heel on before moving onto the other.
