Never Leave You Chapter 39

Louis' Pov:

"Rome is so beautiful at night," Liam smiled. We looked at the lit up city in amazement. The night sky was lit up with city lights and twinkling stars. It was truly beautiful.

"Niall, could I talk to you for a moment?" Zayn asked out of a moment of silence. Niall turned his attention onto Zayn. He was confused as so was everyone else. "What is wrong?" He asked. Zayn replied, "Well, I'd want to look with you while Liam, Harry, and Louis look together." He sent Niall a nervous glance. "Is that okay Louis?" He asked me. I nodded, but I knew that wasn't the reason why he wanted to talk to Niall. "Of course," I said. "Great," Zayn smiled. He leaned in to whisper in Niall's ear and I only caught bits and pieces of it. 'B.S.L.T 101 won't end well.' Was what I heard. Niall's eyes widen and he nervously smiled. "Where should Zayn and I go look at?" He asked. "You two can look at the Pantheon and the Roman Colosseum while Liam, Harry and I will look at the area of Piazza Navona. Is that clear?" I explained.

Niall and Zayn smiled. "Sounds like a plan. When do we meet back at the airport? Or will we be staying here for a night?" Zayn asked. "We will be staying at Hotel Sistina. I have already booked us a room," I answered with a smile. "So we have the whole day in Rome," Harry added. "Great. See you tonight!" Niall replied quickly before he and Zayn left in a rush.

I looked at Liam and Harry who stood there as confused as I was. "What is up with them?" Liam asked. I watched Zayn and Niall walk way in a hurry. I furrowed my eyebrows together in thought. My curiosity was getting the best of me. "Something is on their minds," I said. "They're acting stranger each day," Harry agreed. "We are not going to the Piazza Navona. We won't be looking here. I know she isn't here. Brooke has never mentioned about coming here. Instead, we will be following Zayn and Niall," I said. "What? Why?" Liam asked. "Something isn't right and I want to find out," I said. Harry and Liam nodded understanding. "Zayn was questioning me the other day in Russia. He said his sister was having a friend issue but then asked what I would do if I were in her and her friend's position," I folded my arms across my chest as I continued to watch the two men.

"What was the issue?" Harry asked. "Now that I think about it. It sounds almost like our issue with Brooke," I said. "I didn't think much of it in the beginning but now, I think there is a reason behind it. A reason why he was asking me these questions," I said. "I think they know something that we don't," I added. "What do you think they know?" Liam asked. I stayed quiet as I saw Niall and Zayn turn around. Their eyes met mine which were evident with fear. My middle finger and thumb played with my bottom lip as I was in thought. Harry and Liam waited for me to speak up. Then I did.

"I think they know where Brooke is at."

Third Person Pov:

Zayn and Niall awaited for a taxi cab. They wanted to leave as soon as they can. The two of them were afraid Louis was on to them. They feared that he was now realizing what was really going on and they didn't want that to happen.

"We need some plan," Niall said. They caught Louis' eyes from across the street. "We need to be one step ahead of him. I'm sure he is catching on. He can't know that we know where Brooke is," Zayn said. "Zayn, I think it is time to tell him. This is getting out of hand. Brooke is in the hospital, our friendship with him could be ruined, and I know in the end this will end bad. We should tell him," Niall said. Zayn shook his head. He knew it was best to tell Louis but they made a promise that they couldn't tell. "Niall you know we can't," he let out a sigh. Niall nodded understanding. "I know but think about it," he said. "Brooke told us not to," Zayn said. "Who cares about that anymore. She is in the hospital for crying out loud Zayn!" Niall exclaimed.

Zayn let out a stressful groan as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb. "I don't know what to do anymore Niall. There is so much pressure on me. It's crazy. I don't won't to break our promise to Brooke and have her hate us but then I don't won't Louis to hate us for not telling him," Zayn cried out. Niall nodded agreeing. He too didn't know what to do. He loved both Brooke and Louis to death but he was unsure on what to do.

They knew Brooke is in good hands with the doctors but they were afraid to know what was wrong. From what Louis was saying, it wasn't good. They were scared and they were not afraid to admit it. They knew Louis was scared. Everyone was. No one knew what was happening with Brooke. Liam, Louis, and Harry didn't know where she is and to add on the fear, they didn't know what was wrong with her. Niall and Zayn knew Louis was breaking every second. They knew he was on his breaking point. He was miserable without Brooke. Everyone was.

They heard him crying that night in Russia. They felt his pain and what he was going through. Zayn and Niall hated seeing their best friend heartbroken. They felt sorry for him. Niall wanted to tell him as much as Zayn wanted to but they knew they couldn't. They couldn't break a promise they made but they were torn between two of their best friends.

'I wonder what Louis is thinking,' Niall thought. 'I wish we didn't have to go through this,' Zayn thought. "For now, we need to be one step ahead of Louis right now. He can't know that we know," Niall said. Zayn looked up from the ground to Niall. Niall had on a small smile. Zayn nodded hesitantly. "Agreed," he said.

They whistled for a yellow taxi and one drove up. They quickly got in and drove off to explore the city while they were there. They weren't going to waste their time looking for someone when they knew the person {Brooke} wasn't here.

As they were talking, they didn't notice that a surprise and shocked Louis was standing around the corner listening to every word they had said. Louis heard every word that came out of their lips. He didn't know whether to feel furious, hurt, or betrayed. He understood why they had to keep it a secret but he wished they would of told him instead having their own best friend go through misery. While Harry and Liam went off to find a restroom, Louis decided to let Niall and Zayn know the change of plans of the hotel but instead over heard every word that came out of their mouth.

It made him wonder what else they were keeping. 'Could Zayn or Niall be the mysterious phone caller?' He thought to himself. 'They wouldn't do that but then again they kept Brooke's location a secret from me,' he continue to think. He shook his head and pulled at his hair in frustration. He furrowed his eyebrows together. Louis became furious. He was livid that his own friends would do something like that. He felt betrayed and hurt but he was mostly infuriated. 'How could they do that to me?' He asked himself, 'I would never do that to them.' His fists were clenched in a tight ball to his sides.

'Good luck being one step ahead Niall and Zayn because I am already a step ahead. Game on.'

A/n: Sh¡t is about to go down! Louis knows that Niall and Zayn know! Louis is catching on now!! Two chapters in a row! Only five more chapters to go! Plus an epilogue! Next place they are going to is Venice, Italy. There is a hint.. Two more weeks until spring break! (Not counting this week) my goal is to finish this book by spring break. What will happen next? I'll give you a hint.. In Italy a bunch of drama will be happening! And I mean a ton! A lot will happen between the lads! Btw I have an English and science test this Friday!
