Before either of us could protest the coach sent us to the principal’s office.

“This girl might have cancelled the team, but I have found her messing up with my players since long. She has a problem with each one of them. Even today, Mr. Cooper and Miss Rivers were fighting in the gym.”

“What had you exactly seen them doing Mr. Smith?”

“The two of them were arguing in the middle of the gym where as the rest of the seniors were enjoying the show. It is not the first time that this has happened.” Coach said.

“You go down today.” Logan whispered in my ear from where he was standing next to me.

“But do you know who has started the argument?” Principal Morgan asked the coach.

“Well. It’s very obvious that the one who started the argument would be Miss Rivers. She likes attention towards her. But I can’t bear it anymore. I can bear it no more after all it her because of whom the football team now doesn’t exist.”

“I’d like to talk to the two of them alone, Mr. Smith. You may please continue your class.”

“But Mrs. Morg-”

“I’ll get back to you later Mr. Smith. Now if you may allow.” The principal spoke as she got up.

As the door closed she faced us, her face first stern and then softening in an instant as she laid her eyes on me. She might have remembered about my mother.

“What do you have to say about what Mr. Smith just said?” She asked us both but I thought it wise to remain quiet.

“Yes what he said was true. We were arguing. It was about what happened in the morning.” Logan seemed really angry. “She was in denial of knowing anything about our situation which of course isn’t true since she got us into it in the first place. So I was just asking her about what she did and telling her-”

“Mr. Cooper, perhaps Miss Rivers wasn’t lying to you.”

“But Principal Morgan, you said that you’ve cut our team and that it will be so till you get an answer.”

“Yes. And I assure you that cutting your team was my own doing.” Mrs. Morgan said.

I did not understand what the two were talking about so I was the one to open my mouth next.

“What are you talking about?”

The two turned towards me. When one glared at me and mouthed ‘What the fuck?’, the other person looked at me calmly and assured me that everything was under control.

“Mr. Cooper, you need not glare at Miss Rivers. She has nothing to do with what happened in the morning.”

“Principal Morgan. Did you cut their team in the morning?” I asked putting the two and two together.

“Yes she did. No thanks to-”

“Mr. Cooper, I am sure there is only one Principal Morgan in this room.” Mrs. Morgan said sternly.

“And yes Miss Rivers, I did cut their team. Temporarily. But you have nothing to worry about.”

“But what is the reason for doing so?” I demanded to know.

“That is not your concern, Miss Rivers. I want you to keep out of it.”

“But Principal Morgan, the entire team blames me for it. Even the coach thinks that it is my doing. Now, there is no reason for you to ask me to keep out of it. I demand answers.” I said. Mrs. Morgan was staring at me but looked like she was in deep thought.

On the other hand, Logan seemed uncomfortable. He seemed shocked to hear our conversation.

“I have the right to know since everyone in the school thinks that I have done something wrong.” I whispered. I was frustrated and nothing was making sense. I remembered doing no such thing could put the football team in a deep pit, even if it is temporary.

“Miss Rivers please move out of the room. I’ll get back to you in a while.” Mrs. Morgan finally said.

“No. I won’t go.” I said firmly. She was one person who did not judge people and respected their rights. I knew that I had the right to know what the mess was all about and was very sure that she’d give in and tell me.
