Do not read this story, it's in major need of editing. Seriously. No joke.

You've been warned.

I look over to my alarm clock and sigh.

12:33 PM

Why can't I fall asleep?

Tomorrow-technically, today- is my first day of school and I can't fall asleep. It's been about two hours since I climbed into bed and ever since then, I've been tossing and turning; waiting for unconsciousness to claim me.

We moved in two weeks ago from a two bedroom apartment and into a two story house which contain a two-car garage, a huge parking lot, an attic, and a pool. The house was located in a nice neighborhood. The first time I saw the house, I was amaze at how big it is, it could pass for a mansion. I claimed the second biggest room knowing that my parents had an unspoken claim on the master and left the third bedroom to my brother. We spent our first few weeks decorating the house, making it feel homely.

My brother's name is Jhaylin; he is 13 and starting his first day at Ridgeway Middle School today. My name is Chrystal; I am 17 and also starting my first day at Ridgeway High.

My eyes finally begin to droop and I more than happily let myself drift to unconsciousness.

I was woken up the next morning by the screeching of my alarm clock. I groggily rolled over and turned it off, rolling back to the warm spot on my bed. I find it extremely agonizing tearing myself away from my bed for any reason at all, doing so results in me being in a foul mood. My mom is the only person that risks waking me up (she has more audacity than Dad so it's explainable) and she has the cruelest and funny ways to wake you up.

Once, when Jhay refused to wake up, she tied his feet to the bed post and pour ice water on him while she made my dad press a fog horn in his ear. He shot up from bed and would've face-planted himself on the floor if the ropes weren't holding him. From that day on, I was giving the honor-also known as blackmail-to wake him up on school mornings.

After a few more minutes, I got up and went to my brother's room to wake him up. He mumbled something incoherent and pulled the covers over his head. I grabbed a pillow that fell on the floor and whacked him.

"Hey," he objected under the cover.

"DO NOT fall back asleep," I warned him.

"Come on," he said, "just a few more minutes,"

"I'm going to call Mom,"

"I'm up, I'm up." he said, quickly standing up and stumbling toward his bathroom.

Chuckling, I head out of his room and toward my bathroom to get ready. I brushed my teeth and took a shower. I stepped out the tub, toweled myself off and got in my undergarments and went to my room to search for clothes to wear. I settled on a black skinny jeans, red top, black leather jacket and red lace ankle booties. I walk to my bathroom and started doing my hair. I braided the fringe and put the rest of my hair in a messy bun. Once I was satisfied with my appearance, I grabbed my Nightmare Before Christmas shoulder bag, slung it over my shoulder and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"G'morning honey, you're driving to school today?" my mom greeted when she saw me.

"Morning! yeah, I'll drop Jay off at school too," I responded and kissed her on her forehead.
