Chapter 4: Recovery..

It's been two months since it almost happened. I didn't tell anyone, so no one knew. It was weird how everyone's lives just stayed the same when all I could think about was if they would change if I was gone. I just trudged through every day, hoping things would get better. I told my mom what Eve had been doing; I showed her all the nasty things she'd been posting online about me. My mom was so upset, but she didn't know what to do. She eventually went into school with me and went straight to the vice principal. He said the only thing I could reallyl  do was file harrassment against her. So, I did. Her parents got a letter in the mail saying that if she even said one thing to me she would be suspended. That was the biggest relief I'd had in a while.

After that day, no one talked to me, except Thalia, of course. But, a lot of my friends were friends with Eve, so they were mad at me. I was lonely for a few days, but one day that changed when I made a new friend. One day in Algebra 2, the kid that helped me pick up my books in the hallway one day, asked if I might want to sit with him. So, I thought I might as well.

"I'm Oliver, by the way," he said as I sat down.

"Persephone, or just Nelly, that's what my friends used to call me," I said back.

"I know, I've seen you around. You're by yourself a lot."

"I just like to be alone."

"No one likes being alone."

"I just don't really have friends anymore."

"Well, you've just made yourself a new bestie," he said smiling.

He and I talked the rest of the class period. I told him everything. About Eve, and about the incident. He completely understood. I loved having someone to talk to for once. I just felt like I could trust him with anything when I had just met him at the beginning of the class. Maybe it was because I didn't have anyone to really talk to except Thalia, but it was nice.

After the last bell rang for the day, he walked me to my locker just in case someone decided to mess with me. "Hey, Persephone?"

"Yeah?" I knew where this was going.

"Would you maybe, wanna, I don't know, hang out sometime?"

"That's really sweet of you Oliver, but.."

"No buts," he interrupted, "I know how Xavier treated you and I would never treat you like that. Just hang out with me, and I'll prove it."

"Fine," I said. Maybe this would be good for me.

After t at he walked me home, just to be sweet. I went to my room to do my homework, and realized I had no idea how to do it. Oliver and I had been talking the whole period, so I wasn't paying attention. So much for homework. I went and got a quick shower and grabbed a snack. I also realized I hadn't eaten an snack after school in forever. Things were changing for me, and it was extremely relieving. The only thing that would make this day better was a long nap. So, I ate my snack and ran up to my room. I turned on some Black Veil Brides and passed out curled up in my bed.
