Agent R

The not so serious story of a teenage agent

Chapter 1

In a mater of days my life had been turned upside down. I had been just a normal teen. I had never thought that going into a place that I went to almost every week, would change my life. Well any way this is my story.

I walked to Mr. Mounds used book store. I loved the place, and went there whenever I could. The books were cheep, and Mr. Mound was always extremely nice. Anyway, I turned the worn-out door knob. Stepped back, and waited for the familiar ding of the small copper bell that was attached to the door. I waited to see sweet old Mr. Mound to come from the backroom, but he never did. I figured he was busy or taking a nap. I didn’t want to bother him, so I walked to the section I always did, the history section.

I scanned the long book shelf‘s, and looked at all the different topics. Lets see I thought to myself, I started with the first book shelf. No I had that one, I had that one too. Then I saw a book which peeked my interest, I had never saw it before, but something drew me to it. It was a small blue book with gold letters down the side that read “The history of FORCE”.

I had never heard of force, I had no idea what it was, but I wanted to know. So I bent down and rapped my fingers around the ruff old cover and pulled, but nothing happened. It was stuck, so I pulled again, but nothing happened again. This time I rapped both hands around the book, and pulled with all my might. This time the top half of the book slid out with a loud click. I stepped back, that was weird, but it go weirder. The blinds slid over the windows and the floor began to rumble. Then the floor gave out from underneath me.

I flew through a narrow metal tunnel. Then I suddenly hit the cold hard steel floor. I groaned, and painfully lifted my head. I slowly lifted the rest of my body, and brushed myself off. I had no idea were I was, and why There was some sort of room underneath Mr. Mounds book store. I suddenly noticed just how big this place was. It was huge. the spot were I had landed was barren and dull. Though there was a small, shiny metal table, and a beat up old chair behind it. There was a long hallway in front of me too. I didn’t know how to get back up so I wondered down the wide corridor.

When I reached the end there was a large bulky door. I leaned over and put my ear against it. I couldn’t hear a thing, but I still wanted to know what was behind the door. So I reached for the door knob, and slowly opened the door. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was some of the most famous super heroes in the city and some other people in black suits that looked like there were from the government. They all turned around and looked around at me. I let out a piercing scream and ran down the hall then remembered it was a dead end. I turned around and waited for them to come.

Then I heard foot steps coming. I closed my eyes, and hopped this was just some bad dream. When I opened my eyes there was my idol. Marsh, he had saved me from twister, a villain with the power of wind when he blew my school bus of the road. He looked down at me, but then I heard a yell. “What is the meaning of this” echoed of the walls. A large man walked into my view, his face was red and he was yelling his head off. He came strait towards me, I tried to back up, but I was already against the wall.

He leaned down and looked at my face, I could see my reflection in his dark sunglasses. Then he turned around and shouted “ how did a little kid get into Forces top secret headquarters. This made my blood boil “I’m not a little kid”, I shouted at him. He turned back and looked at me, “do you know who I am little girl” he stated with a sly grin on his face. “No I don’t” I shouted at him. “And I want to know where I am” I added. “You don’t get to ask the questions, that’s my job” he growled. “How did you get here”. “I tried to get a book, cause you know it’s a book store that’s sort of the point” I said. “I’m sorry but that was really stupid”. “Watch what you say when your talking to the top agent of SHIELD” he snarled. “ Will someone please tell where I am and what FORCE is” I shouted in frustration. “ Oh and why super heroes are here”. “ Let me tell you one thing…” the man started but was silenced by Marsh.

He looked down at me “ I know you from some were, Oh you were the one who risked you life about a year ago to save one of the other kids on a school bus from Twister”. “ You hit him in the head with your binder until he let go, he got you but the other kid escaped”. “Then I showed up, you’ve got spunk kid”. “that’s exactly what we need here at FORCE, isn’t that right Rye”. “We need another agent since the incident with agent O”. “What happened to agent O” I asked nervously. They were talking about me joining I had the right to know what had happened. “you’ll find out, we do need another agent and we cant just advertise in the paper” he sighed. “ You mean I have a job here, this is an honor” I beamed.

Then Marsh started to talk again “Yes it is, very few have the honor to be called an agent of FORCE”. “It has its dangers, but it has its ups too”. “Best part is you get to find out who we really are”, he motioned toward the others. I had seen all these people in the paper. They had saved countless lives, and I was going to work with them! “But first your going to need training” said Rye interrupted. “Hope you love to read, Your going to be doing a lot of it”. He walked away, but when he came back my heart sunk. “This is volume one of four” he said slyly as he handed me the gigantic book entitled “The Rules and Regulations of Force”. My head felt like it was spinning. “Your also required to come every day for training”, then he walked away.

I looked up at Marsh “Please tell me he’s not training me”. He started to Chuckle “old Robert Rye isn’t so bad once you get to know him, he’s just upset that someone got into the H.Q”. “Any way we’re going to teach you”. All the others smiled, and waved at me. Maybe just maybe this was going to be fun I thought.
