Aftershock

He takes a deep breath. “I th-” he stopped as we heard Cassandra’s scream. We

ran to her room; she was crying on her bed, I rushed to her and cradled her to my

chest. “What the matter baby” I asked as I rubbed her back “Mommy” she sniffles

“someone was watching me through my winnow” She sniffles again “how do you

know that baby, weren’t you asleep” I ask “I was asleep and I had a weally bad

dream. A mean man was trying to take me away from you.  He hurt you and ven

he took me and hurt me” She starts crying again “shhhh…. Baby what did this evil

man look like… tell mommy” I try soothing her by hugging her tighter. “He has

short but long hair and mommy his eyes were scary. He looked weally scary.” Right

then I knew who she was talking about. “And when I woke up he was at my

winnow mommy I’m scared” I was scared too but I can’t show it cause I don’t want

to scare her more. “Come on baby lets go sleep in mommy’s room.” I say picking

her up and taking her back to my room, and laid her down. I looked at Lucas, “Hey

do you mind staying in here with us. You can sleep on the bed too, because there

is enough room for all of us.” I ask “yeah of course! I don’t want anything to

happen to either of you” I smiled at him; I sat on the bed and lay down next to

Cassandra. Lucas turned off the light and crawled in bed next to Cassandra. As

soon as Cassandra was asleep I whispered “Lucas are you awake?" I was hoping he

was because I really needed to talk to him. “yeah why" he whispered back. “We

both know who she was talking about. We need to talk to my mom about maybe

moving to another state or something because I don’t think I can handle him

hurting me or her. He has already hurt me once, but I don’t regret it because it

gave me Cassandra. But we need to do something fast." I whisper "I know Hun, but

we will talk to your mom in the morning. I think you are right; we need to leave

this town. But let’s go to bed now and think about it later, good night pumpkin."

me pumpkin for as long as I can remember.

*Flashback*

it was Halloween when we were 10 he dressed up as a pirate and I dressed up as a pumpkin. Of course I know that I could have gone with something more uhmm.... What’s the word...?

Ah more girly but I did not like any of the girly ones so, I got a pumpkin costume.

at me when she heard me walk in. “honey we need to talk" she said looking straight at

your father went to jail? Well anyways he is getting out today, I know I should have told
