They had been sailing for a week on the rough sea, battered by the raging waves and frozen by the strong winds. The men were tired and one of the boats was lost, her occupants swallowed by the dark grey waters.

He squinted his eyes, trying to make out the coastline through the wall of pouring rain. They should be close now, and with this dreadful weather, chances were they would make it ashore unnoticed. That was good. The warriors could set camp and rest safely in the dry caves for the night, in the secluded spot he luckily stumbled upon on his reconnaissance trip. Nobody would find them there.
