"And it hurts," Connor finished, showing me his freshly stitched up arm.

"That's disgusting," I informed him, having to look away. "Why didn't they stitch it up earlier?"

"We tried adhesive bandages first," Connor said, covering his stitches back up with a bandage. "Because I'm a baby and I'm afraid."

"Did you hold Jesse's hand?" I teased.

He threw a banana at me.

"Jesse what?" Jesse asked, coming into the kitchen.

"How big of a baby was he?" I asked him.

"He was definitely a princess," Jesse confirmed, causing Connor to throw a banana at him as well.

"Nah, it looked like it hurt," Jesse amended, laughing. "I would've been a baby too."

"So do you ever go back to your own house?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at Jesse.

"I've been there for three straight days," Jesse said, leaning against the doorway.

"It's true," Connor agreed. "He ditched me."

"You left town for one of them," he pointed out.

To come to my game.

"Not to interrupt your stupid fight," I interjected, rolling my eyes. "But I thought you practically lived here."

"I share a flat with Zach," Jesse pointed out.

"Okay, and?"

"Oh you don't know," he said, shaking his head. "For some reason I just assume everyone knows."

"Know what?"

"I went with him to his appointment the other with his Epilepsy doctor. And they had to up his dosage."

"What? Why?" I asked, taking a seat on Connor's kitchen table.

"I thought the surgery was supposed to aid in decreasing the drugs," Connor added.

"It was," Jesse agreed. "But the surgery doesn't exactly work for everyone."

"So what's the matter?" I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

Is Zach sick?

"Well the surgery absolutely helped," Jesse explained. "I mean, we all remember the 4 seizures a day."

That was awful.

"But now it's one every week or two, which still isn't great. So upping the dosage of his medicine combined with the Vagus Nerve Stimulator might cut back on that."

"So what does that have to do with you holing up in you guys' flat?" I asked.

"I also keep forgetting you weren't around when Zach used to get his medicine dosage upped, like, all the time," Jesse mused. "After they up his dosage, for about a week after he's really irritable and sick because his body is adjusting to the new meds."

"And you left him there in the flat, alone?" I asked.

"Just for a couple of hours," he defended. "And you'd leave him much sooner. I'd give you a day max."

"He can't be that bad."

"There's a reason the media calls him the Brooding Bachelor."

Connor laughed at that.
