When’s the concert?”
I forced laughed trying to clear the air a bit from all the tension.
Peyton answered, his face lighting up while strolling over to me.
“Want to come with us? I can obviously get you best seats in the house.”
I shook my head and was about to say no when someone cut me off.
“No, she’s mine.”
Demyan pushed me behind him in a possessive way.
Dang, I feel like a carcass that a bunch of wolves are fighting over.
I sighed, face palming.
Viktor shrugged turning around with Peyton in tow.
“Suit your self kitten.”
Viktor looked at me once more, his leering eyes doing a clean swoop of my whole body as he licked his lips before turning around and walking away. My face was hot and bright red; I felt like I had melted under his smoldering gaze.
He totally just checked me out and licked his lips…w-what a weirdo!
I grasped at my face looking at the ground.
“See you ‘round lil' bro.”
Viktor said as he was walking away.
“Go screw yourself!”
Demyan flipped his older brother off. Resulting in a short wave and laugh from Viktor.
Wait. Older brother?!
I looked back at Demyan then at Viktor's retreating form. It made sense! They totally did look alike! But it seemed that they had a tense air around them.
I guess they just aren’t on too much of brotherly terms.
I nodded to myself. Demyan then turned to me. I smiled up at him.
“Let's grab something to eat, yeah?”
I said grabbing his hand and leading him back out to the parking lot. Demyan was quiet the whole time his hand tense onto mine. As we got in the car he turned to me expectantly.
“I know a good little diner around here.”
As he drove I gave him directions. He was quiet most of the time, unless I said something funny to him when he would scoff at my stupidity, or something along those lines.
Something was obviously on his chest after seeing his brother. I just kept up a happy aura deciding that if he wants to talk about it he will eventually bring it up. He parked in the small lot outside of a little country side diner.
“I think I acted at this place in that horror film ‘One kill.”
He commented sarcastically while getting out of the car. I laughed, rolling my eyes and following his lead.
“Oh stop, you’re just too much of a pampered brat! It’s only a little homely.”
We entered the small diner and grabbed a booth by the window.
“Chenoaa, hun! We haven’t seen you for a while here, how’ve you been sweetie pie?”
A middle aged lady smiled walking up to me and hugging me.
“Sorry Dolly, I’ve been a bit busy making ends, and with money in my family we don’t have the option to eat out even at a place like this.”
“I understand hun! So what can I get ya’ for drinks?”
“I’ll just have water.”
She looked at Demyan.
“Ill have the black coffee.”
He grunted to her. Her eyes widened realizing who he was.
“Ill get those out for ya’ two.”
She winked knowingly at me as she left our table.
I let my forehead hit the table letting out an annoyed moan. Demyan rolled his eyes at me. Then looking over the menu he looked up at me skeptically with his brow furrowed.
“Do you really not have the money to eat at a place like this?”
I shot him a glare. How rude!
“My family can’t splurge by eating out all the time like yours can.”
I spit out at him. He glared.
“Then why here?? You could have had me take you to the highest 5 star restaurant around and ordered whatever you like in any amount, but you chose this run down place.”
He sighed putting his elbow on the table and rested his head on his hand looking me over.
“I can’t seem to figure you out Chenoa.”
I thought it over. This guy has been raised with everything at its best, probably no one there for him to be his best friend or loving family. It was kind of sad really. I gave a sad reminiscing smile.
