Interview with ellezbellz
Author of book Call Me Maybe
Blurb: Kinsley didn't plan on all of her ex-boyfriends to be gay – it just happened! Now that the whole school knows she's just a fake girlfriend for boys who haven't come out, there's a rumor that she, herself, is a closet lesbian! Once her new (and really hot) neighbor wants to start a relationship with her, she doesn't know how she's going to explain it to him. Note: This is not a boyxboy or girlxgirl story!
1.Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
Absolutely! Ever since I was young, I would write in a diary, so it was just like writing a story everyday. In sixth grade, I had a writing assignment to create your own novel and I fell in love. Somehow, I stumbled upon Quizilla and couldn't stop writing ever since! I did take a long hiatus though, but am now (thankfully) contstantly writing after finding this wonderful website! :D
2.Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
I think the most challenging part is probably letting people down while writing. Sometimes, I come up with a story and think it's great, but sometimes, the story doesn't progress and I can just tell it's not the story for me. When it has a following already, I feel so bad that I can't continue it any longer because it doesn't bring me joy. That's part of it too - not being able to finish a story because it's just not right and not just because of writer's block.
3.Do you write an outline before every book you write?
No! I wish I had the discipline for that. I just come up with a plot and a beginning and if I end up coming up with a great idea for the end whilst writing, I'm lucky! I guess I should start doing that, though. It helps the story to come along, but I just go where it takes me.
4.Who designed your bookcovers?
Me! Except for one book cover "In Love with the Devil" which was designed by the lovely@xoshannonxo27
5.Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I would have to say Meg Cabot. She may be seen as just another teen fiction writer, but she's the one who inspired me to start writing! Her stories are weirdly realistic although they consist of supermodels, the president, and princesses!
6.Do you see writing as a career?
I would love to write as a career, but I doubt I have the talent for that in all honesty. But in general, yes it is a career! Look at Stephenie Meyer, J.K Rowling, etc. They sure made a career out of writing!
7.What book are you reading now?
Sadly, nothing. I was planning on reading "Looking for Alaska" by John Green, but I never found the time to go to a bookstore.
8.Have you ever hated something you wrote?
All the time! Recently, I re-read one of my stories "An Infinite Summer" and I had to delete it because I hated it so much. I felt so bad because I know so many people loved it, but I couldn't find the strength to finish it.
9.What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?
I used to think it was romance, but lately I've found that I LOVE writing teen mystery/dramas. I have found a spot in my heart for dark-toned novels (although I do love the feel-good romances) and I just love writing them! Sometimes, the endings surprises me more than the readers, haha.
10.Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Don't take Wattpad too seriously. I know not being able to get on the Hot List is really discouraging, but don't just write for the fans, reads, or votes - write because you love it. After all, isn't that why we're all here?
