"ALEX, ALEX WAKE UP!" Tom came running into Alex's room and jumped on his bed. Alex stirred slightly but was too tired to acknowledge his older brother, it was too early for that.
"Alex come on! It's christmas, and you know what that means, come on. please" Tom said dragging the 'e' in the word please.
"five more minutes!" Alex replied quietly, too tired to move.
"ALEX!!" Tom said, dragging the 'e' in his name as an attempt to get Alex out of bed.
"Tom.. no Tom, I'm too tired, it's too early, please. Tom, Tom" Alex awoke with a sweaty forehead.
"come on, it was only a dream, Alex" he said to himself as some form of reassurance.Alex could already tell that today was going to be a bad day.
A few hours later Alex awoke again, only this time calmly. He turned on his iPod in his dock and listened to Blink-182 to help him get ready this morning. As he put his hoodie on he winced as his arms were sore from previous events. He then went downstairs and into the kitchen, he was planning on actually having something to eat this morning, he knew he had to in order to get better in the slightest, but as he saw the clock in the corner of his eye he saw he was already late enough as it is so he skipped breakfast as usual, and went to clean his teeth. He was just about ready so he went back upstairs to say goodbye to his dad, he knew if he didn't tell his dad of his whereabouts things would take a turn for the worst. He went in his father's room to find that he'd gone, not telling Alex that is, typical. What else should Alex have expected, so instead he just left the house and started on his long walk ahead to school.
It was winter, so it was freezing outside and raining, just Alex's luck. By the time he got to school he was over half an hour late and he was shivering, his hair was now messed up because of the wind and Alex was just generally feeling shit about himself. He decided it'd be a good idea to slip into the toilets just to make himself look that bit more presentable, he didn't want anymore unnecesary attention, he was already now almost 45 minutes late to first period. He stepped into the toilets, took a glance in the mirror and adjusted his hair to how he liked it, splashed a bit of water on his face to wake him up a bit more, he was tired after the horrible nights sleep he had. When he was ready he walked to his first period, english. Oh how he hated this lesson with a passion, but if he skipped this class and turned up to second it'd look more suspicious so he turned up despite how late he was.
"Oh, Alex. How nice of you to join us at last, over slept did we?" said Mr Wilson, Alex was never one of his favourite students.
"Yeah, something like that Alex replied, he went to sit in his normal seat, next to his friend, and one of his only friends, Rian. But Mr Wilson soon decided that he should be sitting next to someone else this lesson, and probably permanantly knowing Alex's luck. He was sat next to Jack, who was on the football team, so Jack was very accepted in this school, he was quite popular. Alex sat down in his seat and was still shivering from how bitterly cold it was outside.
"What's up with you, why are you shaking so much?" asked Jack, trying to avoid any awkwardness.
"Oh, um. I'm j-just cold. uh..." Alex trailed off
"What, but you're inside now though, you can't surely still feel the cold?"
"My body works at a slower rate internally, it doesn't adjust to temperatures like yours or any other normal person's does"
"Any other normal person? Just because your body works slower it doesn't mean you're not normal, you know"
"Maybe it's not just how my body works internally that makes me abnormal"
"what, what do you mean?"
"You wouldn't underst-" the bell for end of first period went and Alex picked up his things and left, wow, saved by the bell.
Jack walked past Alex on his way to second period, he patted him on the back and said "Alright Alex, see you next english session. It was nice talking to you" This made Alex jump, no one ever really talked to him apart from Rian and his few other friends. Alex didn't really know what to reply so he just knodded and half smiled. He really just wanted this day to be over.
It reached lunch time and Alex was completey out of it. He couldn't concentrate, he just kept zoning out of conversations and he didn't even talk much. He didn't eat one thing at lunch, and he skipped breakfast earlier on in the day so this really wasn't good for him, but it was starting to become routine, Alex hardly ate anything these days. That was why he was so thin.
