Whenever "Everybody knows"
I'm sure of just one thing
That all is not the way it seems,
There's sure to be a sting
The world was flat for oh so long
Right there for all to see
Observe yourself, down at the shore
Decide if you agree
Don't let the facts get in the way
Of what your eyes tell you
If everybody says the same
Then it just must be true
All union members know deep down
"The Company” will gig them
It's sure for all, a well known fact
That it's part of the system
To break us down and pay us less
Than what we're really worth
If blanket statements weren't so fraught,
They might be points of mirth
I have a stack of blankets here,
That I've heard thrown about
And airing them out on the line
May cause a few to pout
The faint heart of fair maiden fame
Will face it's test right now
Though I may not be understood
From here I'll onward plow
Blondes are cute but have no sense
They're clueless bubble heads
If preachers knew what their kids do,
They'd hide their head in dread
Politicians serve themselves
And not the public good
Asians are all good at math,
Would rule us if they could
All Jews are stingy, hoarding cash,
All Arabs, terrorists
All Irish cops are drunken louts
Who love their Irish Mist
All Whites are fat, so out of shape,
All Blacks are well endowed
All women need a tune up slap
It's best to keep them cowed
I'm only out for number one,
I'll do what's best for me
So many things we've always heard
And all are wrong, you see
These statements that I've offered here
"May" have a fact or two
Still nothing is all white or black
But of some subtle hue
What's true cannot be generalized
In individual play,
Because no single circumstance
Says all there is to say
Be careful how you contemplate
"Hey Everybody Knows"
"Cause you could be a target
As your own stature grows
