Stealing another person's work WRONG!

Warning: ranting about to commence! Also if you're looking for copyright/how to report a plagiarist there is a separate chapter for that.

I would just like to take the time to point out that stealing another persons work and calling it your own is wrong. Wrong on just so many levels! I've seen it done numerous times, on wattpad and on other sites that are taking it from writers on wattpad! Seriously, makes you think that it's ok to copy another authors hard work?

As a writer I know how hard it is to make an idea come into fruition and be everything you want it to be. Is is that people who are stealing works like the idea, since imitation is the most sincere form of flattery? But you can't just take the idea someone else had and copy it! That's so wrong! You also can't change the idea ever so slightly and say that it's yours, because it's not.

It's plagerism and it's wrong!

You can't do it in school and you can't do it in life.

How would you feel if you made a story that was kick ass and you were proud of it, then someone came along, copied your work and was getting credit for it? Well, that's what you're doing to other authors when you PLAGERIZE!

But if you're like moral people, then you know it's wrong and maybe think that someone copied their work. If you find someone who has copied another authors work you have to report it to that author. Only they are able to file a claim with wattpad and have the story taken down. Just ask Makeandoffer, who had someone steal her book "Dead and not buried", the girl claimed it was her own idea, even though the book was almost word for word the same. She renamed it Ghost Girl, and it had been taken down and the account deleted.

There are numerous others that have had their stories stolen, and the ideas. It's wrong, so don't do it because you'll only get a bad reputation on wattpad and in life.

Think of your own stories, your own descriptions (yes there are people who steal descriptions of popular stories) and make your own covers (at least change the title if you're going to use another persons cover!)

If you plagerize, own up to your mistake. You know what you did, and you did it on purpose. You can't accidently plagerize, unless you're in IB schools and you forget to cite your sources, it happened.
