(Jamie)
“Jamie!” I heard Alex call out my name.
“Yeah?” I went down the stairs hurriedly as I sensed the tension in his voice.
“You have to help me. Taylor won’t stop crying and I don’t fucking know what to do,” He exclaimed, desperation filling his eyes.
“But why? I mean, is she hungry?” I shrugged. I mean, why ask me? I’m a fresh graduate, Bachelor in Recording Arts; I have the slightest idea how to raise a baby.
“Nope, I tried feeding her but she doesn’t want it,” he sighed in exasperation.
“Oh, come on, Alex, maybe she hates seeing your face every day, although I don’t blame her,” I smirked, not minding the fact that his face was reddening. I walked past him, towards the sofa where Taylor was laying, and picked her up.
“Hey, Taylor, is Alex bugging you?” I asked in a sweet, gentle voice as her crying lessened, but didn’t stop. I grabbed a pink little pacifier from the coffee table and put it on her little mouth as she stopped crying, sucking the little thing and closing her eyes.
“See, Alex?” I smiled and raised an eyebrow as his lips slightly parted.
“That’s it?” he asked.
“Yeah, it’s pretty simple,” I smirked.
“Will you please look after her tonight? I’m kind of going out,” he asked.
“What? Why? He’s your kid, Alex, not mine,” I pointed out.
“Technically, she’s not mine, and, if you say that she’s my ‘kid’, she’s yours too,” he said.
“Yeah but since YOU took her in, I think you own more rights to her,”
“Please?”
“No,”
“But-“
“Do you have to go? I mean, is it important?”
“Well, not really, but-“
“See? Well, you go out some other night, just not tonight,” I said.
“But why not?!” he asked, sticking out his lower lip.
“Because my brother is coming to town for some business meeting and we’re going out to dinner,” I pointed out, gently handing a sleeping Taylor to a ‘shattered’ Alex. “And ‘we’, doesn’t include you,”
“Jamie Roberts,” he said in a fake pained voice, “Would you really choose your brother over your dear best friend, who, May I remind you, loves you very much and would return the favor someday?”
“Well, Alex, my dear ‘best friend who loves me very much’, I haven’t seen my brother in a while, unlike you, who I see every day. And don’t worry; you can take me out to dinner too, just not tonight,” I smirked.
“But I didn’t say I’d take you out to dinner-“
“Exactly why I’m choosing Adam tonight,” I said, patting Alex’s back gently.
“Fine,” He sighed gently slumping himself on the couch, putting Taylor down.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’ll bring you a takeout.” I raised an eyebrow.
“Lasagna?” he asked hopefully.
“Sure,” I smiled.
(Alex)
It was late at night, and it was raining hard. I couldn’t sleep on my bed. I kept tossing and turning. It was weird because at first I thought someone was knocking on my door. Apparently, it knocked repeatedly so decided to check it out. Jamie was in her room, probably sleeping like a baby. At first, I thought it was Jack, but it wasn’t. I sloppily put on my gray hoodie over my plain white shirt and opened the door. I looked around but no one was there. I was about to close it when I heard the strangest sound. I looked down, and there it was, a slightly damp cardboard box that held a little bastard wrapped in a pink blanket. I quickly picked it up and brought it inside. I panicked, and hurried upstairs, knocking on Jamie’s door.
“Jamie! Wake up!” I called out, knocking almost furiously.
“Alex, what the fuck are you doing? It’s 1.30 in the morning!” She exclaimed.
“You have to see this,” I said, and grabbed her hand as we quickly went down the stairs, where the baby cried.
“Alex, what is this? Where did you- holy shit is this yours?!” she looked at me with wide eyes.
