ALYSSA’S POV
As I started to wake up, the haze in my mind started to clear. I opened my eyes and I immediately regret. The bright light coming through the windows just made me want to go back to bed, but I knew I had to get up. I opened my eyes again and slowly got used to the light. I noticed I wasn’t at the gang house; I was still at my “mom’s” house. Keeping this in mind, I decided I was going to go back to gang house and get a change of clothes then come back. I pictured my room and jumped through the portal. I was really trying to hurry, considering no one knew I was awake. I wasn’t looking forward to confronting my mom, because knowing her, she would be a like “Alyssa, why couldn’t you be more rational?!” Rational my ass.
I jumped back to their house, but ended up being outside their front door. Oh well, let’s give them a heart attack! I knocked on their door and suddenly my mom was there pulling me into a hug. I awkwardly patted her back. Everyone heard my mom when she said, “ALYSSA!!! I’m so glad your back.” Natalie pushed her out of the way as she ran to me. I held my arms open and waited for her. When she jumped into my arms, I sort of stumbled but gained my balance quickly. I told her, “Baby girl, I missed you so much. How’s it been?” She just chuckled and shook her head. Natalie held on to me as if I was going to disappear.
To my right, where the woods were located, I heard leaves crunching. I immediately put Natalie down, and shielded her from view. I noticed that three wolves had come out of the forest and I recognized them instantly. I told them, “Change, I’m so happy to see you all.” They went behind the trees and shifted. Aaron stepped out and I started running. “ARRRIIIII!!!!!!!!!” I screamed as I jumped into his arms. “Why didn’t you tell me you were visiting?” I turned to his parents with tears in my eyes and said, “Mami, Papi, I missed you guy so much! Where have you been? Why didn’t you call, I would have came and got you guys!”
You’re probably wondering why I call them Mami and Papi. They are the closest thing I ever had to a real parent. They didn’t abandon me; instead they welcomed me with open arms. Mami said, “Hush hun, we’ve been traveling around the country after you and Aaron’s um thing. We didn’t call because they would trace the call.” I turned to Ari and said, “How was it when I left? Have the rules changed? I’m supposed to be deployed this year.” Just as Ari was going to answer, Alexander with his stupid ass asked, “Who are they? What business do they have here?!” I gave Ari, Mami, and Papi a one second finger, but Ari knew me better so he wrapped his arms around my waist. “They are mi familia. I met them a couple years back. How about we continue this in a second, k?”
I turned to Mami and said, “I need you guys to go to the Holiday Hotel (I don’t know if it’s real?) and check in under the name Santiago and I’ll be there shortly. There are extra clothes there that you are free to use.” Ari looked like he was going to argue, but I cut him off and said, “I’ll be no more than an hour, if not then try my cell. If I don’t answer you can come back here. Got it?” He just nodded and led his parents away. I turned back around and said to Alexander, “Can we hurry this up? I got some catching up to do with them. I need the information that they have and I’m getting impatient.” Alexander said, “First, don’t use that tone of voice with me. Second, how do you know them? Third, why are you sitting down like you are bored?! These are serious questions that I need to be answered. God so help me before I go over and beat them out of you.”
That’s all it took for me to lose it. “I dare you, because all I need is one hit or one punch. All I need is that ONE HIT for it to be count as self defense. I really don’t like your tone of voice either actually so I would appreciate if you could chill. On to the questions you asked, I know them from a while back and I’m sitting down because I’m bored sitting here.” Ugh, this has already taken thirty minutes of my time, how much more?! I suddenly heard a caw and it wasn’t like a real caw, it was one that was made from a machine. Dammit, they found me. I turned to the sound and took out my gun. I cocked it, and then pulled the trigger. The bullet went through its head and stopped the noise. I turned back around and saw my beloved trainer, Cayden. “Cayden, I thought I had another day till you came to start training?! How did you find me? I’ve been laying low for the past two years?” Cayden responded, “I came a little earlier, to see what you were doing, but I see you are busy. I found you because of the people at your school and sweetie what you’ve been doing isn’t laying low.”
